M2N32 SLI and X2 4200 overclocking, at 2750 ?'s to go to 2.9

Post by Cisco Kidd »

I am looking for those running the M2N32 SLI Deluxe board. I have a X2 4200 currently running 2750 using the 667 mem setting with 5,5,5,18 2T. I have vcore at 1.45 and vdimm at 2.175 . I have CPU to NB HT at 4x and the others left at 5x

For whatever reason I can not run 260x10 wit 800 or 667 setting from what I rmember. My ram is Corsair XMS2 PC6400C4 rated at 5,5,5,12 and at auto it runs 5,5,5,18 2T. I have just found out there is another Corsair PC6400C4 2x1024 kit that is rated at 4,4,4,12, so this may be the route of my problems, too late now as I have had this stuff for 6 weeks.

The board can get to 235fsb with no adjustments in the bios. After that i have to up voltage or lower HT multi to go higher. I can not run 250 using DDR2 800 whether I run the mem at 4,4,4,12 or 5,5,5,18.

I would love to see some advanced voltage screenshots as well as the chipset screen/mem timings and advanced mem timings page to compare with those running the 570 SLI board or the 590 deluxe. My temps at idle are 30 and under load I am seeing 44-45 running prime via core temp. Here is something odd, running prime one core errors out at 2750 yet I can game and bench with 3D05 and 03 for hours not a single glitch and the system is fast paired to 2x7600GT's in SLI

Here is my gear

Antec Neo HE 550
Freezer Pro 64
X2 4200
M2N32 SLI Deluxe bios 0603 board revision 1.03g
Corsair XMS2 PC6400C4 2x1024 running in A1 & B1 dimms dual channel

Looking for some feedback as I know I can get to 2.8-2.9 just missing something I am hoping there is someone out there running the same gear who can post screenies of all the applicable changes they have made. I am aware of the divisor issue and how running a 4400 would give one a better shot at tighter mem timings. The X2 4200 is truly running DDR2 800 at 218x11 (11/2=5.5 rounded to 6, then 11x218= 2.398/6 = 399.66 x 2 for double data rate = 799.33.) So if I run my X2 4200 at 218x11 with DDR2 800 and timings of 4,4,4,12 2T cause 1T is not possible or seems to offer no diff over what I have found it is now running truly DDR800.

in order for me to get the chip to the 2.9 range I have to use the 667 setting which allows me to clock the cpu higher since the mem is underclocked further from the start
