Zotac IONITX A-U overclocked - temp reads are wacked out

Post by graysky »

If I run my Zotac IONITX A-U (Atom 330 based all-in-one) at the stock settings (1.60 GHz) the temp monitor in the BIOS reads 34 for the MB and 41 for the CPU at idle. If I overclock the board (fsb up to 667 from 533) the temp monitor in the BIOS reads 34 for th MB and 14 for the CPU at idle. If I boot into Linux the temps are messed up as well (sensors using coretemp and lm90 modules):

Stock (12x266)
coretemps-idle: 21/23
cpu temp-idle: 30
coretemps-load: 32/32
cpu temp-load:53

Overclocked (12x333)
coretemps-idle: -3/6
cpu temp-idle: 42
coretemps-load: 16/23
cpu temp-load:56

Can anyone else with this board comment? Do you see really odd temps when overclocking?

Couple things...
A) Are you running the latest BIOS release?
B) What software are you using to monitor these temps? I use Everest for most of my computers and there is an update a least once a week that adds new boards and sensors.
Latest Everest build:

Thanks for the reply:

1) Yes, latest BIOS 9/13/2009
2) No windows here, it's lm_sensors under Linux. Also, the BIOS reports the MB and CPU and the CPU temp there is messed up too.

If it's messed up in the BIOS report it to Zotac and see what they say. They might fix it but then again they might not. Worth a shot though.

It's been reported since the board was first released. They still haven't done anything about it and I doubt they ever will. Heck, even now, fan speed control is lacking and a lot more people have complained about that.

Well there's your answer. If it's unstable you'll know it even if you can't check the temps.
