USB 3.0 not working

Post by livingem »

Hello - I have an ASUS P7H57D Motherboard, which has two USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard.

I have tried to use both USB 3.0 ports with both a WD and then a Seagate HDD, but neither drive was recognized when connected with USB 3.0. I no longer have the WD drive.

At the present time I have a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Desk HDD with a USB 3.0 adapter. The drive lights up when connected to a USB 3.0 port (there is no power cord), but is not recognized in My Computer or Device Manager. I am using Windows XP Pro.

As far as i can see, i have installed the USB 3.0 driver fom the utility disk that came with the Motherboard.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What driver version are you running?

I think you are running the P7H57D-V EVO motherboard and the latest driver version for it can be found online here - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_ ... H57DV_EVO/

1) Host Controller Firmware is v3.0.2.1
2) USB Cntroller Driver is v1.0.19.0

Those are the latest official drivers tested and posted by ASUS.

You can look to other sites to get even newer drivers. Station Drivers shows much newer versions - http://www.station-drivers.com/page/nec.htm

My advice is try the ASUS drivers if they are newer than what you are running. If they don't fix the problem go ahead and use the latest drivers from the site above.
