Sound question

Post by illus002 »

Hi!

Just got a new computer today. everything works great.. except the sound. which doesnt work at all. system doesnt even recodnize that i've plugged in speakers. its that speaker icon with a cross.

ok, so in sound options in CP it says ''HDMI audio device'' (from sapphire 7850 hd) all greyed out, cant click on anything.

the 3 sound cables are plugged in at the motherboard (sabretooth z77)
so i was thinking. do i need to have a hdmi cable for my system to be able to recodnize audio?
i mean.. i checked everywhere, done everything but still no sound.

Either my motherboard or graphics card is faulty ( dunno which one is responsible for the sound) or i'm really doing something wrong.

would it be just easier to buy a sound card and be over with it?
so based on my components, do i need a HDMI cable? or did i completely miss on this one :P?

You might have to download and install audio drivers for your motherboard's audio chip if whoever assembled your PC missed it.
