I guess this all is because it's no "normal" bios, rather an EFI bios.

Welcome to city 17,
The EFI specification was originally developed by Intel, and is part of Intel's corporate-wide push for ubiquitous digital rights management on the PC platform.
DRM is F****** everything over these days, and Intel seems to like it. Next they will introduce "DRM Gaurd"® on the PSU so that if the PSU isn't attached to a certified Intel DRM product it won't even supply the power to it.

new Marvell drivers

Post by seanriddle »

I'm not currently using the Marvell SATA ports, but Intel posted a driver update. Maybe it fixes some of the problems people are having?

How is it that some people are getting 242MB/s from HDTach?? The most I can get with my BadAxe2 and SATA drives is 50 to 65 MB/s!

I installed Vista with the Intell RAID drivers. And I have the BIOS set to AHCI.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm running Matrix RAID (0, 1) with 2 Maxtor Diamond max 300gb drives and HD Tach tells me it's seeing 244.4mb/s burst, 124mb/s read running Windows XP Home w/SP2.
What RAID configurations are you using?
MSI Meg X570 Unify | Ryzen 3900X | Noctuna NH-U12A | G.Skill RipJaws DDR4 3600 16GB | Samsung 970 Pro 512GB M.2 NVMe | (2) WD Blue 3TB Backups | MSI 2060 Super Gaming X | Meshify - C | SB X-Fi

I'm not using RAID at all. Just have a SATA2 80GB Western Digital and a SATA2 320GB Seagate.

This is my first RAID build, so I'm a newbie at it. By running RAID 0 it speeds up write times & I believe read times as well.

From all the reading I did the Intel Matrix offered best of both worlds. Can run RAID 1 (mirroring) and RAID 0 (striping) with only 2 HD's and have extra bonus of RAID 5 ability to remove one drive (failed or replaced) and it will rebuild data on new drive when it's plugged in.
I've tried it and it worked!

Interesting. We have simialr systems, aside from using RAID. I have an eVGA 8800GTX card using the stock cooler. Out of curiosity, what are your voltages and memory timings for the 3.0GHz clock speed. I am pretty stable there, but I like to compare.

I'm using G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800 at 266/533 5-5-5-1 @ 2.12v. My clock speed is 333FSB with 9x multiplier of course and default voltage.

Is MCI voltage the northbridge voltage?

2.no hard disk detected!
3."EB" and "0" appear in the corner on bootup.

1..im not fuess about.
2..i want it to say something more like ST3160811AS detected
3..doesnt bother me.

a lot has been said about these 3 topics but im a little confused on where to start.
i have the BLKD975XBX2,E6300.
thank you. :)

I have to ask the obvious...

1) Have you updated the BIOS - BIOS Update 2770 [BX97520J.86A] is the latest
2) Have you tried loading the default settings in the BIOS?
3) You aren't using the red SATA header are you? (silly i know, but i got to ask as this is eSATA)

If the BIOS still doesn't identify hard drives on the Marvell controller check the BIOS to make sure it's enabled and also check the SATA cables to make sure they are okay. As for the post codes in the lower corner of the screen these are expected and are supposed to be there. No issues with these. Intel said this on them (The BIOS boot codes in the lower part of the screen at boot are normal features used to identify BIOS, not an issue or problem at all.) It seems the controller isn't seeing your drives at all and that is an issue.

hope this helps a bit

hey, my comp works fine, logs in and all and i just have a few minor glitches with XP but i just want that message..
"no hard disk detected!" to say that its detected.
and no its not in eSATA its in SATA 0 (black). i noticed that some people tried disabling secondary SATA in bios and that worked but
made the HDD led stay on and then the new bios came out and that fixed the HDD led problem.. so if i want the message to not say what it does
firstly do i disable secondary SATA or update bios first or what comes first 2nd 3rd?
so basically i have the same thing as the very first post on this thread.
thanks again, Prizy

hey,
i did a little looking and you also replied to my other post telling me which bios file to downlaod, thank you.
so i now know: 1.what file to download
2.where to put the downloaded file (Temp)
3.i printed off the step by step how to update bios from intel.com

and so all i need to know now is what thing to do first eg. 1st: disable secondary SATAII
2nd: Update bios
3rd: anything else i might need to do.

and 1 more thing, http://forums.legitreviews.com/posting. ... 53......on step 5,
this is probbaly silly to ask but do i wait 3min before i press "finish" or can i press "finish" and just let it do the rest straight away?

you've been a great help, thanks again

the link to step five in the above post doesn't go to anything...

If you are trying to do away with the post message just disable the Marvell controller in the bios as you mentioned above. Unless you had a really really old board the BIOS should already have a BIOS version on there with the LED fix that many of us saw last year. As far as the BIOS as soon as it says it's finished go ahead and reboot or do whatever! No worries!

sorry the link should have been...http://support.intel.com/support/mother ... 023357.htm
but anyway, i got my board in September 06 and havnt updated the bios since and every time i boot up i forget to check at the top
of that marvel message what version bios i have :x
so should i just disable the secondary controller and go from there.
thanks.

just go ahead and update the BIOS and when that is done disable the secondary SATA controller... the post message will go away and you won't have any BIOS issues as the current versions take care of the LED issue... should be all set in less than 10 minutes.

on step five click finish and let the computer do it's thing. It will shutdown for you and the process takes just a few minutes.
