Ty skier for the information. I have never really got involved in the lap top market, so consequently my knowledge is somewhat limited on what does what and what it supports. I always looked at lap tops as a item that was seriously limited on upgrading components. i will have to admit that this was derived from looking or semi using Dell, HP and other OEM types of laptops.

Here's a couple things to take into consideration wayne12.
A) If you upgrade to a faster CPU then your battery life consequently is going to suffer.
B) I don't think there's any way to know if your stock HSF (heatsink and fan) can cope with the higher TDP/heat dissipation. So If you do get a quad core and the HSF can't cope your CPU is going to constantly be throttling back. In that instance you will have bought a useless upgrade.
