Blue is better than Black!(56K Beware)

Post by camaroguy1998 »

I recently built a computer for a friend of a friend and he chose the Antec Nine Hundred for his case. I liked working with the Nine Hundred so much I bought one for myself! My only complaint with the case was its Flat Black color, it sucks! So after a few weeks of phone calls and emails I found someone who could/would do a quality paint job at a reasonable price.
I've painted 2 cases before using spray cans and although they turned out pretty good, the last one I did took me over 2 weeks to get it the way I wanted. I really didnt have the time. So Koby the owner of KCL Creations said he could do it in 3-4 days and I would have the WAF(Wife Approval Factor) also, she hates the smell of paint! I gave it to Koby and let him loose with it. It wasn't to hard to pick the color! I went to a local Car/Bike show where Koby had a couple of his bikes on display and there it was his Blue 650 Kawasaki with Dragons and Fish airbrushed on a Blue base! I knew as soon as I saw the Blue that was the color I wanted!

Alright enough of the how it came to be story, here's a few before and after pics!

The only problem happened during the Blue spray, a section of the tape job came loose and some over spray got on the silver inside. I looked at it and decided to let it go since the Mobo and PSU will cover almost all of it!

Looks pretty cool.

Couldn't you lightly sand the inside where the overspray occured? I don't know if there is any sort of finish on the inside of the case, so I guess that would affect that.

amazing what a little paint will do... I love it.

So is it automotive paint? Base/clear two stage? Just imagine if you added a pearl to the clear coat!

real slick, and hey since you extra time now you could paint the insides black :) (two tone is always nice like the front panel accenting the rest of the case as it is now)

any idea how to achieve the WAF? (or Mom approval Factor for me)

When he painted the case he painted everything silver for the base coat and then the outside panels were all painted blue.
So the inside is silver and I plan on leaving it that way for a little reflection when I put a couple Blue CCFL's which should be at home right now! Yes of course I'm at work!

looks nice. I'm sticking with black on mine. Depending on when the next Folding war starts, I'm planning to tear down my 900 and paint the inside black. i've already ditched the optical drives in the front and added the 3rd drive cage to give me a full mesh, triple fan look. Unfortunately, before I can paint, I've got a lot of "body work" to do. My 900 is a rev. 1, so I don't have any of the wire management holes in the mobo tray, so I have to insert my own. This is a good thing, since I'd rather put my holes where I need them, rather than where antec think they would be best.

/ramble.

Nice job, I like the reflections on the top tray. shows a nice gloss.

Yes its automotive paint, base coat/clear coat! House of Kolor is the brand!

Since DaIceMan is sticking with Black, BWall you need to pick another Kolor!?!.
Maybe something in a Red, Green, Yellow or a Sweet Shade of Purple!

Well I always thought flames were a bit overdone, but this job he's done manages to keep them fresh.

Thats pretty much what I wanted to have done but it would have been 3 times the price!
Well worth it but, out of the WAF range!

Well I finally made the switch! :supz:
The Nine Hundred is up and running. It's amazing how much quieter this case is compared to my Lian Li PC-75!
I was so used to hearing the 6 - 80mm fans, now It's kind of scary how quiet it is! I have to check the fans every once in a while just to make sure they're working!

An even bigger difference than the noise is the temps!
The CPU is running 15c cooler, the GPU is 12c cooler and the system temps 9c cooler and thats with all the fans set at low speed!

I am now an Antec convert! :prayer:
