NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT Video Card Preview

The new NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT is touted as the perfect and best performing mainstream graphics board solution on the market today. The GeForce 9500 GT can be found for just $69.99, needs no external power connector and has a maximum board power rating of just 50 Watts. Very impressive for a board that supports PhysX techology, CUDA applications like F@H and can still run intense 3D games!

I didn't touch on temperatures in this article as I don't think GPU-Z is reading the card 100% correctly. That temperaure is at idle and I included that slide there to show that. Just didn't want to make a big deal outof it till I can confirm all the temperatures. 72C isn't bad though and at full load it didn't get much hotter.

Interesting definition of mainstream on the first page, any idea who came up with it?

It's kind of ironic that I'm turning my nose up at this card, yet it performs better than my current 7950GT!

Interesting to see how much more the 9600GT gets over the 9500GT in F@H performance.
Still, this is a great deal for people who just need an all-around champ. Good read!

Oh, and not to hijack this at all, but how does a G92 8800GTS 512 do in F@H versus the 9600GT?
Cyberpower generic case
B450M PRO-VDH MAX
Ryzen 5 3600 w/PBO/OC
CM Hyper 212 EVO push/pull
Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 CL16
MSI RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 3X 8G OC LHR
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB
6GB Seagate HDD
EVGA 650BQ 650W PSU
ASUS VE278 27" monitor, Dell E2216HV (vertical)
Logitech Z533 2.1 Speakers, G935 7.1 or G435 headset
MS LXM-00001 keyboard
Razer Deathadder Elite, XBOX One Lunar Shift controller

I've come a long way from my original Core2Duo E6750 build y'all! :supz:

Unless the 9600GT has some secret folding performance aiding thing, I'm pretty sure that the faster GTS will win out. With 24/7 folding you will be looking at 5500-6000 ppd.

the one thing you want to look for in a card to get good folding performance is the number of stream processors. nothing else really matters

Hmm, I have a new build coming up. If the build is for my sister's comp, what would you guys pick? The Radeon 3650 or the 9500GT GDDR3? I'm interested in it's gaming performance and folding performance.

@Apop, can you post the overclocking results with the 9500GT?
Intel Core i5-3570K @ 4.2Ghz @ 1.16V (CPU-Z + LinX)
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H F14 BIOS
ASUS GTX 460 768MB @ 800/1950
Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB @ DDR-1333
Corsair AX750
Crucial M4 128GB
Western Digital Black 1TB
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ EVO
BenQ E2420HD
