Meh, its still a Sunbeam. I've never heard anything but so-so reports about them, so I'm not surprised.

Re: Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler
hmm, having one pipe not directly over the procesor could help with a quad, as depending on the way the chip sits in the socket and the way the cooler is mounted it could have one over each core

Looks like an adequate finger slicer Not too bad performance given it's price. Wonder how it'd do with a stronger fan?

If you do decide to retest this with a different fan, You know how there is the 'V' gap between the cooler and the fan, does air escape out of the top and bottom of that? I would suspect blocking those up and forcing air to flow across the fins might give better temperature (might want to leave the bottom one open if you need VRM etc airflow).

We run what was brung, so if a company didn't build their product for optimal performance that is their own bad. We simply don't have the time to go that in-depth on every review. For example right now Bubba has over six products waiting to be reviewed and more are coming in... on to the next.
Re: Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler
Just figured that bubba might still be playing with it due to his comments about wanting to test it on a different board, wasn't expecting a full on testing sesh, just a quick and dirty mod and a quick check.
But being slammed with all those things to do I can totally relate to, so It doesn't matter about my random curiosities
(I'm the awkward sod that always has something more for you all to do after you've put all the hours in doing the review in the first place!)

It will happen, but its a good couple weeks before it will.
Got several others that have to be done first. It will also mean tearing my personal system apart to use that board for the testing as its the only other board I have.

Sunbeam makes me cringe.
Re: Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler
Well got in the office this morning and heard a nasty racket coming from the test system. After poking around I found it was the fan on the cooler that was the culprit.

Well that's not good.
You had chance to take the fan off and see if it looks all right?
Maybe the bearing grease leaked?

I'll tear into it tomorrow when I take the system out of the case its in. I'll look closer at then, but yeah its annoying to say the least.
