Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Santa came a little early for me and dropped off a Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display!
- 22" Wide TFT-LCD Monitor (1680x1050)
- 3D Gaming Ready Monitor
- 20,000:1 Dynamic Contrast
- 5ms Response Time
- HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
- DVI-D (Digital Interface)
more to come, but the only let downs so far is the fact that it comes with a single DVI-D connection... No DisplayPort or HDMI!

wow, thats a nice monitor! the only thing i can think off to add other than display port or HDMI would be lowering the refresh rate to 2ms, but 5ms is fine too!

Must be nice!
Apparently you were a good boy this year, a real good boy!
No HDMI or Display Port is a surprise!

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Before, Samsung LCD monitors had different type of panels called A panel, B panel, and S panel I believe, with the S panels being the best ones. Hopefully they don't have this problem anymore.
Did you open up your monitor yet? We want a video review xD.

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Here are some more pictures of the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display now that I've opened the box.
What comes with the SyncMaster 2233RZ: The back of the display has some crazy flower design and that flower design is carried through to the cable holder/sorter. The adjustment buttons on the side: Finally the monitor all together and ready to go: I searched Google for this monitor and only 8 sites come up with Samsung 2233RZ, and this seems to be the first pictures of the monitor on the internet.

How did you get one so early, I mean Samsung hasn't yet even announced their upcoming 120Hz panels lol.
I'm mainly interested in the 120Hz support, can you see if it's selectable in monitor display properties? Of course you'll need drivers installed for the monitor in that case. Does it use dual-link DVI input, ie does the DVI inputs look different than normal DVI inputs?
Sorry for all the questions but I I've waited for years for LCD monitors with 100Hz+ support so I could finally ditch my CRT.
Sounds weird about 5ms response time though, perhaps it's average response time as 5ms GTG would be very bad for 120Hz. :p

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Well I switched out one of my two Samsung SyncMaster 204B monitors with the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ and I'm super impressed.
It makes my old Samsung 204B look weak and a few years back the 204B was top of the line. Both monitors are on auto settings with nothing defined, so this is what you get when you set them up. After using the Samsung 2233RZ I want to get rid of both of my 204B's!!
My old Samsung SyncMaster 204B Specs:
Display Type: TFT LCD
Viewable Screen Size: 20.1 inches
Pixel Pitch: 0.255 mm
Display Colors: 16.7 million
Input Video Signal: 15-pin D-sub DVI
Contrast Ratio: 800:1
Brightness: 300 cd/m²
Response Time: 5 ms
Horizontal Viewing Angle: 160 degrees
Vertical Viewing Angle: 160 degrees
Maximum Resolution: 1600 x 1200

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Did you try running it in 120Hz mode yet? Would gladly know how great it works. That's this monitor's selling point you know. Samsung even has the support page for this monitor up btw ( http://astkorea.iptime.org/fileupload/b ... /index.htm ) and manual and specs etc can be read and it shows it should even have a 1680x1050 @ 120Hz preset in the settings when I checked out the manual and that it's got 245MHz pixel clock which means it has to use dual-link DVI input to be able to maintain so much bandwidth. Man I can't wait for this Samsung or the ViewSonic VX2265WM to come out.

Of course... is there any other mode to have it set at? It comes with the dual-link DVI cable as I showed in the pictures I posted the other day, so you can run 120Hz with no problems right out of the gate. Here is a picture of the Hz options...RPGWiZaRD wrote:Did you try running it in 120Hz mode yet? Would gladly know how great it works. That's this monitor's selling point you know. I've also seen the monitor listed at Samsung and NVIDIA just to name a few big sites, so it seems to be public.
Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Ok thanks, you know there's been some speculation going on whatever it would be true 120Hz or not regarding the upcoming 120Hz LCDs (due to this interpolation trick with the HDTVs etc) but everything points to it being 120Hz input now and not some tricks. Can't wait until I'm able to play UT3 in 1680x1050 @ 120 Hz / FPS! Should be a nice experience from being used to 1280x960 @ 100Hz on my 19" CRT. CRT motion fluidity on LCDs, I've only been waiting for like 5 years. Screw the 3D stereoscophic gaming glasses, I just want the monitor capable of smooth 100FPS+ gaming!

Hi,
have you tried playing videos on it? if so, does it give movies that "live" effect like 120hz TVs do?

Any idea on the pricing? Is it as fluid as a CRT running at 100+ hz?

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
What kind of adjustments does the panel have? Most of the panels out there just seem to be your run of the mill tilt forward/backward. Was looking for something that has a bit of vertical adjustment as well.
Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
In the posted specs for this monitor missing were if it has LED backlighting and if it has an S-PVA panel?
I guess an adapter can be used on the DVI connector to make it HDMI or just to use a DVi to HDMI cable.
To be up to date it should have had a Display Port connector.

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Hi all new member here, just wondering if the monitor has a built in option to go into 4:3 aspect ratio.
This is fairly important to me because my current 226bw doesnt and in-scaling with nvidia does not work with 75hz at low res which is which id like to use for older games.
Thanks

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
Just found out something that really ticks me off about this Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD monitor...
HDCP is supported at 60 Hz, but not in 3D Vision dual DVI mode
That means this 3D monitor will not work with Blu-Ray 3D's.... I'm really ticked about this one...
Newer 3D Vision monitors (Acer, Alienware, LG, etc.) support HDCP in dual DVI mode (120 Hz frame sequential 3D).

Re: Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz LCD display
i'd use it just for non-3D gaming, 120Hz = 120 FPS!
