Super Talent 16GB Pico Flash Drive

Post by Apoptosis »

Super Talent has managed to cram 16GB of storage in a mind-bogglingly small package. It used to be that drives so small suffered when it came to read and write performance, but has Super Talent managed to break this perception and provide decent performance with its Pico 16GB drive? Read on to find out what this little drive can do!

In the past, really small USB flash drives have had to make compromises on performance to fit everything in such a small form-factor. I'm pleased to say that the Super Talent Pico 16GB doesn't suffer from these drawbacks and offers great read and write performance. When you consider how small the drive is, this is even more impressive...

Wow, talk about mopping the floor. Can't wait for these to go on sale/discount. I take it they are not Readyboost certified as I saw no mention of it in the review.

There was little to no documentation with the Pico (what's on the box basically) and it made no mention of it being certified, but with the decent speeds it has, I'm sure it will work as well as any other certified device for readyboost.

The advantage of readyboost is questionable at best anyway (As you can see here).

I just called and talked to Super Talent and these are ReadyBoost capable.

Just a suggestion:
You should compare this flash drive to Sony's MicroVault drives.
But Sony's only go to 4GB large, so maybe for an apples to apples comparison, compare Sony's to Super Talent's to find out who's minuscule drive is superior? :]

That is awesome news. With Windows 7 removing the 4GB limit on ReadyBoost, this drive is going to be a Virtualizer's wet dream...

I've been looking at the consumer reviews of the Pico line at Newegg.com and it seems that they have an terrible failure rate. Not sure if that will be the case with the 16GB versions but it seems that way for the 8GB versions.

Well I'll let you know how the 16GB works out long term, and I actually have a friend who bought the 8GB version after seeing this one, so I'll ask them to let me know if they ever have any trouble with theirs too :P
