PowerColor Shows Off Custom Video Cards At Computex 2010
PowerColor was showing off numerous custom designed ATI Radeon HD 5000 series graphics cards at Computex 2010 and we spent some time getting to know them better. Included in our coverage is the PowerColor Radeon HD5770 Sniper, which is the first DX11 GPU to have network card built right onto the PCB. We also show you the PowerColor Radeon HD5770 Evolution, which has the Lucid Hydra chip on it for improved multi-GPU capabilities.
PowerColor was showing off the world’s first single card solution that combines a DirectX 11 enabled graphics chip with a Network Processing Unit (NPU) that is coming to market as the PowerColor HD5770 Sniper edition. We aren't sure exactly what to call this 'video card' though as it's unlike anything we have seen before. The card features Advanced Game Detect technology, which means that the card can classify the right network traffic and separate the game data for priority treatment, enabling a faster and more fluid gaming experience. This technology designed by Bigfoot also bypasses the Windows network stack in a bid to offer the highest performance, often measure not only in bandwidth, but also latency. It's a little strange seeing a nic port on the back of a video card isn't it? The PowerColor HD5770 Sniper edition was certainly one of the most unusual and innovative products that we spotted at Computex 2010.
why would they release that so early? 5xxx is still doing very well and likely will throughout '10
might see mentions of it by CES, but i doubt that even, nvidia isnt even competing in the sub $300 market yet
I've read some gossip here and there that the 6 series is waiting for the new die shrink to be hashed out. I also read that a 5 series refresh is coming soon.
Eyefinity 5770? So you can get terrible framerates in 5 monitors instead of ok framerates in 1? I guess if you need to run 5 monitors for work you would get one.
I think eyefinity is pretty stupid to begin with until some display manufacturer creates a multi panel setup with no bezel in between; or just 1 40-60inch screen made up of 4 seamless 1080p panels letting you have quad HD resolution. That would be worthwhile, this bezel in between wall mounted stuff is just lame looking.

you are aware a 5770 is as powerful as a 4890 right(compute wise)? besides eyefinity isnt really for gaming as much as it is for office PCs(photoshop-videoediting-coding etc.) where all or most of the work is 2D
