Well it seems it's that time of the year, now DDR3 RAM pricing on the decline, you can get some G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz CL9 2x2GB for $85 with a $10 promo code EMCZYYV65 for $75 shipped which is $30 lower than the price they were at just a few months ago!
if you're in the market for some more RAM or an upgrade, keep a close eye on its pricing because we all know once it hits bottom it doesn't stay there forever!
i suggest pick a kit with a high egg-rating, bookmark it, then check its price daily or weekly. once it starts to go back up in price, buy! and sometimes you can call newegg and say you were looking at x kit and it went up by x amount of $ over x period and they may give you a credit for the difference toward your actual purchase- I did this to get my CL9 ripjaws for $80!

Thanks for the heads up .
Was planning to get all/most of my new parts for my new rig at Fry's when I go to cali to visit my relatives this year, but I guess I can get some things from the Egg.
thx again

Re: DDR3 RAM Pricing
Hmm, how do you think RAM prices will be in a couple of months? The Kingston 2x4GB DDR3 1333 is currently $142.99 on Amazon (same kit is $175 on Newegg). I need the RAM but I won't be building my system until December or January. Think I should buy now or do you guys think prices will drop further?

Re: DDR3 RAM Pricing
*sigh* I guess it's anybody's guess... Oh well, I think I'll just monitor prices for now. Tried researching and the articles I've found seem to indicate prices haven't bottomed out yet.
By the way, how does the DRAM spot price work? Because DRAMeXchange shows spot price of 3.83 for 2GB DDR3 1333, 1.91 for 1GB DDR3 1333 and 1.95 for 1GB DDR3 1066. Would I be correct in assuming those prices are for individual chips?

Re: DDR3 RAM Pricing
Individual chips in batches of 1000 or more, could even be 10K or more (normally it's 1K)hnzw_rui wrote:*sigh* I guess it's anybody's guess... Oh well, I think I'll just monitor prices for now. Tried researching and the articles I've found seem to indicate prices haven't bottomed out yet.

Prices are due to drop even more due to demand. Less people need DDR1 or 2 so the manufacturers are tooling up for DDR3
But since it's a major commodity sold on the markets, you're not the only one asking. Prices could go up as well due to market demand.
I doubt you'll see the low prices we saw with DDR2, that was just crazy and down to over production.
Re: DDR3 RAM Pricing
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I don't think we'll be seeing 2x2GB kits for $35 this time but prices now are already pretty decent. You can get 2x2GB kits for $70 without rebates. The 2x4GB kit I was eyeing just dropped another $10 to $132.53. If I were building right away, I wouldn't hesitate to buy now. Since I don't actually need it yet, I'm just monitoring prices. If I see signs of prices going back up, then I'll snap one (maybe even a couple).kenc51 wrote:Individual chips in batches of 1000 or more, could even be 10K or more (normally it's 1K)

2X2GB DDR3 RAM can be found for $60-$80 after rebates, etc. Pretty good compared to like $100+ a couple months back. Saw 2X2GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz for $89.99 - $10 rebate on Fry's, so it looked like a pretty good deal. (hope the person i asked who lives like 10min from Fry's bought them for me...ask I asked )
