Uh... Um... Hmm... Well... How? I've seen faster RAM help lower Pi Times and other generic benchmarks. I've never seen it help so much in a game. Do you think that's due to the limited resolutions? For a while there I would obsess over every single MHz I could squeeze from every system component. Now I find a ballpark stability and call it a day.

The CPU/GPU had to be starved for memory bandwidth... trust me my jaw dropped and I swapped memory kits a million times to confirm and test it out.

That was almost like dropping a new CPU in your system. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

That's a substantial performance gain for a very low cost. I'm probably going to get another notebook in a few months, are these modules compatible with all second-generation Core i processors, or is there something else that limits compatibility?

It should be compatible with all the processors, but I'm sure there must be the proper hooks in the BIOS in order for it to work properly. Might want to do some research on the notebook you are buying or if you are buying one in a few months from a company that lets you configure it make sure there is an option for 1866 memory.

Surprised Intel didn't push for earlier certification if they knew memory was such a bottleneck.

The one area I was surprised with, is that the lappy actually has a higher memory divider, and that it works.
