yay Intel put the RAM slots in the right place :lol: sorry, its one of a couple things I dislike about the DX58SO.

Your board was designed when X58 was supposed to be quad-channel... Then they pushed it off to the next platform ;) Yes, quad-channel memory still lives.

So does that "candy bar" add bluetooth support? Is it similar to other board makers soldering a bluetooth dongle onto the rear I/O area? Same approach different implementation?

Yup it's bluetooth and WiFi. It plugs into one of the internal USB headers.
