yay Intel put the RAM slots in the right place sorry, its one of a couple things I dislike about the DX58SO.

So does that "candy bar" add bluetooth support? Is it similar to other board makers soldering a bluetooth dongle onto the rear I/O area? Same approach different implementation?

Yup it's bluetooth and WiFi. It plugs into one of the internal USB headers.
