Popular Cooler Maker Scythe Closes Down

Post by Mike10 »

To Customers and Users

Scythe USA Inc. has been a supplier of Scythe products for the past several years. In November 2012, Scythe USA had to make a difficult decision to end its operations as a result of the closure of its parent company. We greatly appreciate your business and support over the years.

Sincerely,

Masahiro Sakai

This appears to be just another of the closures that is going to be happening in the months/years ahead.

ABIT, DFI, Chaintech, Danger Den, Scythe, AOpen, BFG Technologies and now Scythe have all closed entirely or shut down consumer product production.

That looks really depressing when you list them all like that. Especially Abit and DFI, what a loss. :(

And as far as I know, there are no new startups. I'll bet all the remaining companies are looking to see how they can secure their futures.

btw I have a BFG 8800 Ultra brand new, boxed that I got off eBay for £100 a couple of years ago. Got it to collect and that baby isn't going anywhere. Tried it a couple of times and that's it.

Scythe Europe says that Scythe is not closing and that the USA division is just changing distributors...
