The Socket 1207 or Socket "F" Spy Photos:

AMD has gone to a pinless processor?? Can it be?

Rumors are floating around that this socket supports DDR II 533, 667 and 800MHz memory speeds. No word on whether or not it actually integrates a PCIe controller.

What you think?

So would this be the DDR2 server platform?

I counted 1143 pins.

((2 x 16) x 36) - 9 = 1143.

Yes, I have something better to do, but I just don't feel like doing it.

Blake, This socket is solely for the server processors.

try again on the pin count!

Aww crap. Well, at least it's easier to tell them apart from one another with the higher res.

Ok, let me try again, lol.

((2 x 17) x 36) - 11 = 1213?

It's really hard to see on the right side what with the shadows. :|

It can't be 1207, that would be too obvious. :P

Computer hardware is supposed to by cryptic and confusing!

w0w, lots-0-pins

and you're right, it isn't going to be our next desktop design.

the new platform will be:

M2 940pin 333mhz HT Bus (DDR667); Rev.F memory controller utilizing DDR2-667 system ram; new chipset; dual core cpus; Dual GPU video cards in Dual Channel true x16 SLI or Crossfire PCIe bus.

the added bandwidth will alleviate the bottlenekkin we're already seeing from the 939/nf4/DDR1 platform while using Dual x8 SLI or Crossfire setups. this is part of the reason that you can run a single PCIe vid card using either x16 or x8 bus and see little to no difference in performance; as well as not seeing any major mobos in use that support true dual x16 PCIe vid bus for SLI/Crossfire. the bottleneck won't allow anymore data to flow thru the chipset and cpu.

the last 939 cpu and chipset has been made, it's the thing of the past... now we're on to a whole new world :)
