I want to see the nvidia nForce 590SLI with firstpacket and dual gig go up against it... doubt there would be a big difference.

Wow, that sure looks pretty. Though it is rather expensive! Will this really boost performance over the better integrated NIC's like on nforce mobo's?

Someone is making alot of money off these things, the whole company seems fishy in my opinion, they dont even have an actual photo of it! just a crappy render of what it might look like lol. And $300. wow. like I said someones getting rich, this smells of a scam to me, just normal NIC's with a fancy looking plastic "heatsink" probably.

wow... just read the forums over at their corpoate sites and damn I'm not impressed... Here is the link to the original thread.

Someone joined their forums and asked this:
I'm a bit skeptical about the actual performance of this NIC. Convince me to buy this NIC
The CEO of Killer Nic Answers:
I'm not sure I can convince you to buy Killer just yet... And that is okay: it may not be for you.

Why? Killer was designed for people who would LOVE to have 17ms Ping versus 20ms...

Killer was designed for people who want MORE FPS, especially in heavy action scenes with lots of networking going on.

And FPS and Ping (Latency) are big contributers to Lag.

What I can say is that running programs while gaming is a sure way to Lag. One of the main features of Killer is FNA: which allows Linux applications (like linux versions of VOIP, etc.) to run on the Killer instead of on your CPU. In my experience, and a lot of other ELN members, this would have a dramatic improvement effect.
he then goes on to say this... get this....

a gamer with 512MB of ram, should probably upgrade RAM first, Killer second!

Wow... first off most gamers already have more than 512mb of memory and secondly I'm sorry but all gamers know that the GPU is the bottle neck followed by the CPU and Memory not the NIC card... oh brother...

LR Forum Members beware this product. It costs $300 and might shave 3ms off your ping.

People will buy this and hook it up to their DSL router......not knowing the router will run @ 100MBit/sec MAX
A quality hardware Intel NIC will do just fine for LAN gaming........costs around 40 bucks
Intel Pro 1000XT (1H895) Network Adapter --> also supports PCIX (Even this is overkill IMO)
To be honest......a "bog standard" 10/100Mbit card is good enough!

I just made a few phone calls to some connections, so we will see what happens.

Legit Reviews has been placed on the sampling list for one of these cards, so I'll be bringing you the truth on it when it comes out.

So, essentially, all it's good for is LAN parties, and even then, only if the server is 1Gbit, and even THEN, only actually worth it if you're playing for cash prizes? :P

ok after reading what they said on their forums ive changed my mind they arent trying to scam people they are just stupid and stumbled accross enough money to create such a useless piece of hardware and expect people to buy it for $300 dollars.

UDP offloading, USB port for VOIP phones etc. sounds nice.....but ~300bucks?

So what I don't get from the renderings and picture is why the intricate heat sink?? Why can't they just put a plate over the RAM and then slap their logo on top? it seems to me they are making this effort way harder than necessary. :dunno:

$300? I thought my $65 Intel NIC was too much.

Just a little puppy trying to make it in a big digital world.

Since I'm the kind of person that doesn't get something for $300 unless it doubles or triples my experience, I don't think I'll bite. Unless I find one on eBay for $10, then I might be curious. :P
AMD Opteron 1224SE "Santa Ana" = DFI Lanparty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
Crucial Ballistix 4x1GB DDR2 800 = Corsair CMPSU-750TX
