PNY goes high end with an XLR8 2GB 800MHz CL3 Memory

Post by Apoptosis »

Designed especially for hard core gamers and enthusiasts, PNY’s XLR8 Performance memory is said to be some of the best memory on the market today. The XLR8 series of modules come with a custom heat sink featuring cooling fins designed to provide superior heat extraction for enhanced reliability and endurance. Legit Reviews pushes these modules with their 3-4-4 timings to 3-3-3 at 800MHz to see what they can do on our Intel Core 2 Quad test system.

Great review as usual!

That looks like some really nice RAM, but it's a little steep for me...

Overclocking? What did the memory top out at? I understand time contraints and how time consuming it is to find the max stable setting for RAM but a screenshot would've been nice. Given PNY's wishy washy "Lifetime Warranty" would you recommend this stuff over a proven lifetime warranty manufacturer like Corsair or OCZ?

Whoops, I forgot to add the overclocking screenshot in. Since these are designed for 680i boards you'll get more out of them running on that platform. Still, these are very impressive sticks for an Intel 965 chipset memory overclock.

Ditto on the nice review , and nice CAS3 timings ; but the price ...is a definite killer in my book as your now wondering closer to DDR3 $$$ territory :|
* i7 5930K @ 4GHz 1.085v - Corsair H100i GTX - Asrock x99 OC Formula 3.1
* Sandisk Extreme Pro 480gb - HGST NAS 3TB - 2x WD Blue 1TB - 32gig Crucial 2133 - EVGA 980 Ti Classified - Corsair 780T/Seasonic 760 Platinum
* LG 34" Ultra Wide - Hanns-G HZ281HPB 27.5" - LG WH16NS40 Blu Burner - SoundBlaster Z - Klipsch 4.1's/Altec center channel
* Windows 8.1 Pro/Windows 10
