OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler Review

OCZ recently unveiled the Vendetta CPU cooler as their leading-edge yet affordable cooling solution. Using a distinctive, highly efficient heat pipe and fin design developed by Xigmatek, combined with a low-noise fan, the Vendetta is built to tackle heat on today’s enthusiast system builds. The Vendetta’s three copper heat pipes actually make direct contact with the processor! Read on to see how the OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler does!

What makes the Vendetta unique, is the fact it uses three copper heat pipes that each make direct contact with the processor to ensure the most rapid heat transfer. The 'V' shaped stacked aluminum cooling fins feature dimples that are supposed to add turbulences, thereby reducing the skin effect of laminar air flow. Basically, this CPU cooler was built to tackle heat-induced performance degradation and to solve the cooling challenges of today’s enthusiast system builds.

Good review. I'm amazed that, even though it has been shown that coolers whose fans sit horizontally (blowing towards the CPU) are more efficient than those that sit vertically, many of the new coolers are in this configuration. Seems to be a decent performer though.

Now that the pretender has been reviewed, any chance you could get the real thing in to test? :D

The design of the vendetta was licenced from xigmatek, so OCZ haven't stole the design, but they did shrink the cooler down, and so the original design would be a beast to test.

In the reviews that I have seen that compare the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 to the Vendetta, the HDT-S1283 won out by a couple degrees.

I'm honestly amazed by what you get for the price... For $27 you get a cooler made out of copper and other pricey metals that has been through the metal shop (pressed, stretched, rolled, cut and so on), put together, boxed with accessories and shipped around the world. Then you pay $27 at the retailer, which is after mark up... If it wasn't for out sourcing products like these just wouldn't be possible at the prices we are now used to.
