GeForce 8400 GS hits retail

Post by Apoptosis »

This week you will start to see the GeForce 8400 GS hit retail. GeForce 8400 GS graphics cards are ideal for cost-conscious users who don’t want to sacrifice features.
We are extending the retail line-up of our award-winning GeForce 8 Series by offering the NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS to consumers. NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS graphics processors offer the features of the GeForce 8 Series architecture for an incredible value. Superb for driving the Microsoft Windows Vista experience, the GeForce 8400 GS runs Vista features quickly and seamlessly, allowing you to play the latest Microsoft® Direct X® 9 and DirectX 10 games, and enjoy an outstanding HD DVD/Blu-ray movie experience. The new NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS delivers full DX10 support, stunning Vista graphics, and high-definition video playback for around $50-$55.

GeForce 8400 GS graphics cards will be available any day now at retailers worldwide. They have been shipping in computer systems from leading PC manufacturers since April. OEMs that ship GeForce 8400 GS GPUs include: Acer, Fujitsu Siemens Computer, HP, and Medion. We also have many other design wins that are not announced yet.

If they would throw 640MB of ram on this puppy for under $100, I would buy one :)

I would be more interested if they would just drop the bloody price of the current 8xxx series cards. It feels like Nvidia is just sapping as much money as they can from us, until they get real competition against all their cards (the HD 2900xt is just not enough, especially for its price).

But this is great for the media center group!

It's a good card for HTPC. Specially if it has passive cooling.
