MySpace Announces Beta Instant Messaging Service

More Than 17 Million International Users on MySpaceIM
LOS ANGELES -- Jun. 20, 2007 MySpace today officially announced the beta launch of MySpace's instant messaging service, MySpaceIM (http://myspace.com/myspaceim). More than 17 million global MySpace users have installed the beta service, making it one of the most popular and unique instant messaging tools in the world. The beta has been spreading virally on MySpace since its soft launch a year ago and in the last six months alone has grown more than 250 percent.

"This is a product with personality," said Tom Anderson, president and co-founder of MySpace. "MySpaceIM was born out of user feedback and we've spent the last year listening to our community and tweaking it to match their needs. MySpace will continue to build an open, unique feature set that's as creative and expressive as our users."

MySpaceIM is the first in a series of enhanced products and services the company plans to unveil over the coming months to make it more efficient for MySpace users to express themselves, manage their social lives, and connect with friends.

As a fully integrated beta service, MySpaceIM can be downloaded directly to the user's personal computer (http://myspace.com/myspaceim), allowing them to add their network of friends in one easy step. Rather than showing an instant messaging display name, MySpaceIM users view the profiles of their friends as their log-in and can use the IM as a more efficient way to send messages and comment, view friends' videos and pictures, and read blog postings.

MySpaceIM capabilities include:

-- One-click login through IM to your own MySpace mail and bulletins

-- Find and view friends' profiles in one-click

-- Instant alerts for all requests, messages, and comments

-- Ability for users to create and share custom "zaps" (short sound bites) and emoticons

-- Music player allows users to play their friend's profile song while on IM

-- Ability for users to drag images from the Web or their desktops to share with friends on IM

-- Users can set "offline message" for friends, leaving headlines even when logged off IM

-- Users can create and share background images from their MySpace photos

Allowing worldwide MySpace members to easily communicate, MySpaceIM is available on all 16 of the localized territories including the UK, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, MySpace en Espanol, Latin America, and China. All territories have localized versions of the instant messaging tool making it easy for users to download the service, view client tutorials, and access MySpaceIM groups in their native language.
