Mozilla Releases Firefox Deer Park Alpha 1

Post by Apoptosis »

Deer Park is the codename for Mozilla Firefox 1.1 and Deer Park Alpha 1 is a preview of 1.1 aimed at developers. The builds available today are Deer Park Alpha 1 release candidates.

Deer Park Alpha 1 intentionally uses a codename rather than the Mozilla Firefox branding to dissuade end-users from downloading the preview (an end-user beta will be available closer to the final 1.1 release). In the tradition of Mozilla renamings, Deer Park Alpha 1 has previously been referred to in planning documents as the Deer Park Developer Preview, the Firefox 1.1 Developer Preview and Firefox 1.1 Alpha.

FireFox 1.1 will be based on Mozilla 1.8 beta2 from my understanding, which is the improved gecko engine.
Deer Park Alpha 1 is now available. Deer Park Alpha 1 is an alpha release of our next generation Firefox browser and it is being made available for testing purposes only for developers and the testing community. Current users of Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x should not download or use Deer Park Alpha 1.

Note: Deer Park Alpha 1 is not an official mozilla.org final release, it has been made available for testing purposes only, with no end-user support. If that sounds scary, you'd probably be better off with the latest final release.

A new alpha was just released. They're making a full patching system, so users don't have to redownload the full installer for firefox everytime, but I don't think it's working yet.

I haven't tried it yet... I may do so for kicks, and see how stable it is.
