News Source: CNN NewsSEOUL, South Korea (Reuters) -- A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old man, identified only by his family name Lee, had been playing online battle simulation games at the cybercafe in the southeastern city of Taegu, police said.
Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play on-line games on August 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said.
"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.
Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported after interviewing former work colleagues and staff at the Internet cafe.

Man dies after online game marathon
Wow... Gaming kills kids! Don't play video games for 50 hours and only take breaks to eat and nap...
She doesn't need to drop hints, but what I wasn't sure about was if she was serious about attempting 50 hours.audiophile wrote:she's dropping hints, dudeNobahar wrote:lol. I showed my girlfriend and she laughed- then told me it's better to die after having 50 hours of sex, not video games.
I'm still not quite sure of what to make of that. lol

Man, the longest I ever carried out a gaming marathon was 24 hours, and even then I got up to use the restroom and eat, and that was a few months ago on Halo 2 (back when I actually had an Xbox). After that, I saw nothing but artifacts for 3 days, like the game burned itself in my eyes, and it didn't help my contacts dried out and it took an hour and a lot of rewetting drops to get them out. Just a lesson, I wouldn't play for any more than 8 hours at a time before taking a long break. Shows what uber-intensive multiplayer action (along with 10 cans of Adrenaline Rush) can do to a person.Zeratul wrote:Im sorry but I dont feel bad for this guy. 50 + hours playing a game? Come on! What did you expect would happen to you?
