ATI leads the way with industry's first graphics hardware certified for Windows Vista'TM'

Driver for ATI's award-winning line of graphics processors certified with Windows Hardware Quality Lab 'WHQL' to ensure optimum performance and reliability
MARKHAM, ONTARIO, Sep 26, 2006 -- Underlining the company's leadership in developing hardware and drivers to support Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista operating system, ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY)(NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that its driver has been granted the graphics industry's first Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certification for Windows Vista by Microsoft. WHQL certification sets a high bar for quality and reliability, and is considered essential by many business and home users.

Windows Vista is the first version of the Microsoft operating system that requires hardware for 3D acceleration. WHQL certification reassures businesses and consumers that ATI graphics processors are fully ready to unlock the stunning graphical features of the powerful Windows Vista platform, including Windows Vista Premium(1).

"ATI is working closely with Microsoft to ensure the best performance and most reliable Vista experience through our top-to-bottom line of graphics processors," said Ben Bar-Haim, vice president of software, ATI Technologies Inc. "With Windows Vista, 3D graphics now matter to everyone and ATI's WHQL certification gives businesses and consumers alike the confidence that their ATI system is ready for Vista."

(1) Currently shipping ATI boards certified for Windows Vista Premium include the X1300, X1350, X1400, X1600, X1700, X1800, X1900 and X1950.

yada, yada, ... yada! Of course they want to say they're the best. But what matters to me is that "when" I load Vista and try loading their drivers my LCD goes blank and I can't really do anything about it, except start over.

So this is what I think of your "Most Stable Vista drivers" ATI >> :finga: Bugs me no end, that you spend so much "quality time" with Microsoft that we can't get a decent Linux driver out of you, and yet your Vista drivers are still crap. :x But I guess the part that really irks me most is that I've bought several ATI chipset cards this year, I really should have stayed with Nvidia!! Nvidia never fully develops their chipset drivers, but their video card drivers will allways be superior, or so it seems. :|

Now I apologize to any LR peeps that might be offended by my ranting. But ATI knows that some of us are having issues. Yet they persist is blowing their horn, saying they have the best drivers, and they seem to do nothing for those who are having trouble. Just burns me up!!!

I was thinking along those lines too Cannyone, they best have done a major bug removal of the WHQL drivers, because they are anything like the ones LR tested then we are in for a sorry state of gaming of vista when it comes out!

I've had nothing but problems with these _ ATI drivers and RC1. The Catalyst Control Center is the main cause of BSOD'd for me. If I do a custom install and skip the CCC part then I can get back into the desktop. But If I install the CCC it results in BSOD upon next reboot.

Beta OS...yes I understand
Beta display drives ....yes I under stand

ATI makes the best Vista driver..... I don't understand :)
