MACS Monsoon II Lite Intel Active TEC CPU Cooling System

MACS Monsoon II Lite Intel Active TEC CPU Cooling System

Used commonly in the aerospace industry, thermoelectric chips (TEC), or thermoelectric coolers, have not been integrated in the cooling of CPU due to previous humidity problems. Vigor Gaming had resolved these problems and developed the Vigor Monsoon II series of CPU cooling systems with TEC. Legit Reviews compares this TEC cooler to a leading air and water cooler in this review.

It's been nearly six months since Legit Reviews has done a review for the guys over at Vigor Gaming and when they contacted us wanting a review of a new Lite version of the MACS Monsoon II cooler we were happy to help them out. The company in China that makes the MACS Monsoon II is now also making the same exact cooler under other companies names, so starting last month there is a price war and battle going in the market of TEC Coolers. While this is unfortunate for companies like Vigor Gaming, consumers stand to win as prices must be lowered to win your business. Vigor Gaming did just that and has released a new version of this cooler that cuts off the unnecessary fat and by doing so reduces the price by 25% without impacting the cooling performance one bit.

Hey man, you got the cooler turned the wrong way! It should be pointed toward the rear exhaust fan!
Life's a bitch, THEN we die!

LOL
The middle LED is the 'oh ****' light and only comes on if the TEC fails.

When the system is on an open bench (as reviewed here) it generally doesn't have exhaust fans. :P

I thought I stated it clearly in the review when I said this on page two:

The fan can be rotated any direction you want and ideally it should be placed to where the hot exhaust is blown out of back of the case. Since we were using Corsair Dominator PC2-8888 memory modules with the AIRFLOW cooling fan, the cooler could not mounted like this. Luckily we are testing it on a test bench soit really doesn't matter.

So I really don't have it turned the wrong way... Heck how can you have it turned the wrong way when using a test bench. I also think it helps show people that have tall memory modules or active cooling on their memory modules that it won't work that direction, which could be a deal breaker for many.
