K8N Diamond Plus PCI lock bad?

I just apparently killed the South Bridge on my K8N Diamond Plus. Friend of mine says that the PCI lock failed/didn't exist and thus caused the PCI slots to run out of sync. Anyone have any insight as to K8N Diamonds and PCI locks? HTT never went above 260MHz. The mobo has been sent in for RMA...
