Re: A Benchmark For Just SSDs - AS SSD Benchmark
The 4k-64 test uses 64 queue depth! SandForce shows only good performance on compressable(for example zeros only like other benchmarks) data. My Benchmark uses pseudo-random data that cant be compressed-> SandForce performes bad. I stand corrected! ;-) BUT if that's the case you should think about ...

Re: A Benchmark For Just SSDs - AS SSD Benchmark
Great tool except that without being able to adjust your queue depth you won't get real world performance results. The results don't measure how performance scales when you're able to take advantage of NCQ. It appears to me (us) that it's set at a queue depth of 1 so SandForce based drives are never...

Sounds like the CMOS battery is dead, did you replace it already? man that is one fugly color scheme That's exactly what I thought too... Nate, Where'd this come from? And who held this contest ...

You need to be VERY careful about changing bytes in the JEDEC portion of the SPD. For instance if you reprogrammed the tRC on a module with a standard PC6400 SPD to make it run at a tRC of 15 at PC10000 automatically your BIOS would try to set up the tRC at 9 which might not allow your system to eve...

heatspreaders do nothing. Its been proven. Unless you have water in them like OCZ, they do nothing good airflow can't do. And you've done the research and published the white papers to support that? Fact: DDR1 might not have seen the huge performance increase that DDR2 does with advanced cooling bu...

Are you going to get some new Ballistix modules in to reflect the change they've made in their spec?
Apparently they can't screen enough IC's to maintain a 2-2-2 spec and have dropped it to 2-3-2...

You should RMA it directly with the mfg then and hash out who pays for shipping with them... Or, you could choose to take your business elsewhere next time and pay more for every component because they're building the cost of paying for the shipping on the occasional defective product into the price...
