Re: Microsoft Releases Windows Vista Service Pack 1
Hehe... here's un update on this topic :-) It seems that people don't need to wait till mid February for final SP version. It seems that again it leaked on the net... But I don't know who will install this service pack, if it's questionable has it been modified, or if it's final release at all... ht...

Re: HELP choosing GPU!
Yep, I would also go for 8800GTS. I think it has the best price/performance for money. It't not that smart always have and purchase top-of-the-line cards, and when nVidia introduces some new graphic card, the prices can fall from 20-30%. So 8800GTS will be more then enough for now, and we'll see wha...

Re: Ram Memory CL5-6-6-15
Yepp those where great links you've provided, kenc51, but if you look at this http://www.eclipseoc.com/index.php?id=6,51,0,0,1,0 I've found it very useful and helpful... so try with this. Also try to read some ram reviews from that site, and I'm sure that it will be much helpful to understand the wh...

Re: How reliable are the results from hcidesign's Memtest?
I think that HCI Design's memtest is not that much useful application. I've run it several times, and I was unable to find any error in memory. With memtest I did find errors while I was running it. The best way to test if my RAM was o.k. (either at default frequency or when overclocking) is Orthos ...

Re: DVD RW drive doesn't read dvds, not recognized by XP Pro?
Yurchie: I think that you did the maximum that you can for your Sony dvd-rw drive. When you've flashed it's firmware you did the maximum that you could for your dvd-rw drive. Cleaning lens will perhaps help for a few weeks or months, but the problem will occur again - it's only a matter of time. Som...

Re: Futuremark Announces the Futuremark Games Studio
I also think that their game will look spectacular, like facr cry or Bioshock? Who knows... But it's the gamplay that I worry about the most. Too bad there isn't any preview or screenshot about this... but I'm sure that in the near future something will pop-up! Here's the official news http://www.fu...

Well I'm glad that powermax came out with no errors. So lets hope that the problem isn't in hard discs. Anyway remember to look at you event log after you finish with chkdsk /f. There it will print out output from the screen (I just can't remember will it be printed in application or in system log) ...

Well I think that you just need a quality (brand) PSU that costa atleast 50$. If everyone could use those PSU, there would be really much less problems with computers. So I think that any seasonic, fortron, tagan, fsp, hiper, coolermaster, thermaltake, antec 400-500w should be enough for most users ...

Bigblockmatt, sorry I thought that you have nforce based motherboard. So there is no limit for you to try powermax utility by maxtor. One thing I forgot to mention is that you MUST do a full backup of your data on those disks. After that you can drive powermax utility, or you can try chkdsk procedur...

If I were you I would go to http://www.eventid.net and type in specific event id and source of those error/warning messages. I also think you don't have to worry about the temperatures. They're fine. Especially on X2, they are a couple degrees hotter then venice s939 processors. Anyway you can read this article, the components are much similar to you: http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cooling/air/heatsinks/zalman/9500am2/ ...
