Re: AMD Phenom X4 CPU Pricing - X4 9700 is $288
about power consumption... 125W TDP is peak, right? i was under the impression that AMD had really done some work with idle power consumption. for many of us on here, that may not be that much of an issue but for the average consumer, that's a huge deal.

I'd definitely wait for dx10 cards. DX10 releases with Vista, which is sometime in the first half of 2007 (unless they've pushed it back AGAIN :P). DX10 will not be backwards compatible w/ dx9, although I've read some stuff that says they're going to make some kind of software emulation support, but...

I've used Opera and Firefox. Opera seemed a bit faster, but Firefox's extensions are priceless. The IE--->Firefox transition is also the easiest thing I've ever seen on a computer. FF is pretty much IE that doesn't suck. Oh, when you get Firefox, make sure you get the MouseGestures extension. I can'...

Got the new board, works like a charm. I'm still kinda boggled at how the lcd on the laptop would flicker for a while, but the dsub out to a monitor worked fine. I'm guessing maybe due to the lcd's digital sensitivity and dsub being analog, the crt i plugged in cared less about a messed up signal. W...

I've had good experiences with Thermaltake as a brand. I have a 480W power supply from them and a cpu heatsink, both have worked great ever since I've had them. I haven't gotten to play with an SLI system yet, but I'd definitely say you're gonna need a very solid PS to run 2 video cards with stabili...
