The AUX jack is the best way to connect to the stereo. They do make an adapter that you can hook up through the radio, I have had this. However, it doesn't always hold the station and will skip around, which is annoying. I would look into the AUX jack.

You would want to have the gun registered in your name. Just a copy of the original registration and something stating that he has given it to you, so that it doesn't appear to be stolen. Then you should be okay to carry it and get it registered in your name.
