Re: My First NVIDIA Ion Mini-ITX HTPC Build - Learning As I Go

If I were to build a HTPC today, this setup would DEFINATELY be on my list.

Re: Artificats in games or overheating on my 7900 GS GO?

Did this problem start occuring recently? If so, I think it might be starting to fail. Try playing a game you played back in 2007 when you first got the laptop, maybe even with the same drivers as then if possible. If it still artifacts, I think we know the answer.

Re: Lucid -Ati and Nvidia together

Wow, it's funny how neither Nvidia or ATI themselves were able to do this for their own products.

Re: Which NoteBook?

Well if you're set on a netbook, the performance will be pretty similar no matter which netbook you get (Intel atom z270,280,520 etc are all pretty slow compared to current C2Ds). Personally, I also started university this year and was debating on whether to get a netbook or a low end notebook. The ...

Re: Will my PSU run a 4850 or 4870?

Well the 4870 has a TDP of 160W, meaning about 14A. I'd say you COULD be able to run it on that 430W. Your PSU has a limit of 32A on the 12V lanes. Your CPU probably takes 6-10A, your HDs take 1-2A each. Fans are negligible.

Re: Which mouse?

I'm also using a 24" monitor 1920x1200. Using a Razer Destructor mousepad. It could just be that my senses are not very sharp  But higher DPI doesn't feel any smoother or more responsive for me.. I dunno.

Re: Rosewill products

I've used a Rosewill fan (was absolute crap), and a fan controller which was decent. Packaging was excellent though.

Re: Which mouse?

If you are used to a high DPI mouse, don't get the MX Revolution. I went from a razer diamondback to the MX Revolution, and I had a hard time getting on target for FPS games. I think it's more about the mouse itself than just the DPI. I mean, with my G5, I notice no difference between using 2000DPI...

Re: who using quad-sli 9800gx2 right now?

Well I've seen GTX 285s and other high end cards scale well with tri SLI, but the last time I checked, quad 9800GX2 was an absolute disaster. People were getting LOWER 3dmarks with quad sli than with just one 9800gx2.

The specs of my HTPC are in my sig; does everything I want it to do, but was a bit disappointed at the dismal gaming performance.. Couldn't even run warcraft 3 at 1280x760! Probably should have bought a board with GDDR3 integrated on the mobo.

Hmm when I first heard about this I thought to myself "a whole magazine telling you to buy nvidia products and you have to pay to read it". I guess it's not like that!

Re: SLI GTX 260 Question

Yup, 55nm and 65nm will work together. The only reason some people dont like mixing them up is the different colour schemes (65nm is orange and black, where as 55nm is black with the red piston).

I have that very same video card, and with some luck you might get a 626mhz version! (The SC version). Evga has for some reason been selling overclocked versions as vanilla. I was lucky enough to get one

Re: who using quad-sli 9800gx2 right now?

I dont think microstutter has even been fixed. I'd say stay away from quad SLI 9800gx2 unless you are using it to fold.
