Re: DX10 Hacked For All OSes?

The fact is it's physically impossible for a 7 series card to produce DX 10 effects as it doesn't possess the right architecture to use dx 10 code. I am sure the Ageia card makes for some nice physics based video, but asside from that, your definitely not seeing any dx10. Would be nice if Carmack ma...

I think it would be better, easier and more feature rich if they actually went to open GL

It won't really dent vista as every new pc will ship with it so it's only a matter of time till they hit max market penetration on that front.

I think this will if funds permit being along the lines of the wrappers used by linux to play win games only much better from what I have read. If it works like it is supposed to it could be a big benefit to those of us without vista.

Have you looked at
http://www.sagernotebook.com

They make some excellent gaming lappy's. Only mentioning them because I have owned them and their price/performance was better than alienware by a bit.

Honestly it will depend on how efficient the layer is at breaking it down to machine code. if it's very good, you could probably get 2/3 of the normal efficiency. I can't imagine they would pursue it if this weren't possible or better.

I had a PII350 at 600 for almost 5 years, and my D805 at 4ghz for about 2 years and no side effects. As long as the temps are ok your clear. You'll get a new rig before it dies. Look on any OC forum, you don't see cpu's dying left and right. not to mention I had a A2500+M that I clocked to the max (...

I believe they said their bare minimum operating expenses for the year would be $600 million, but would like 1.2 billion. I guess that's quite a margin of error to work with huh?

Not necessarily, as usually we can OC to the real speeds. It's just a matter of time before both Up the speeds on their own. granted better steppings and refining the processes will help them with better yeilds and possibly better thermals for us.

And why did they leave it at 16 ROPS? Also, don't the power requirements seem a bit off the charts?

He does say on his site that the older cards would run it, but is not specific in telling if the actual effects would be present, i assume not. This is more like a wrapper that they have for linux to run windows games. Just running the game through a low level API layer to get the game to think it's...

Exactly. Intel is doing the same canned benchmark deal with their new stuff as well, obviously both will pick the most favorable. We'll see in the near (hopefully) future.

AMD had already announced it was going to do private stock sales and sell off it's old 90nm equipment to raise operating funds during their transition. I don't think they want to go through the channels to make a public offering unless this doesn't work out. http://stockmarketbeat.com/blog1/2007/04/...

Is Intel going to hold out on the real performers till AMD releases something? Seeing on fudzilla they say that AMD's new cpu had a 62%OC that may mean they have ramp speeds for release after as Intel and them do the speed dance again. I hope their is real competition and not just one barely outdoin...

I just saw this thread and although it's an oldie it's still a goodie. Seeing that the D805 is $65 on the egg. I have a setup in my other room on a P5nd-sli that is not considered a great clocking board and still easily got 3.5ghz with my ultra 120. What AMD would compare to this now with the price ...

Good and bad on that front. We just found out we're having a baby, and that didn't go well with my wife getting laid off from work and my dissability not going thru yet. I'm pretty much going to be on this rig for quite some time unless a miricle happens. I have a 6 figure job lined up, but it would...
