Re: Playing with ROMs on my Droid
CyanogenMOD 7 Nightlies have been at a very polished state for a long time now on the OG Droid. You should give it a try! CM 7 has a lot of nice features! You should make sure you have a recovery that support the new Gingerbread ROM's though, Clockwork Recovery 3.X works well.

Re: Converted my old IBM Model M Keyboard to USB but........
the old AT connectors are just as easy to convert to USB as the ps/2 if you get an active adapter. Both AT and ps/2 use the same signal according to Wikipedia. AT: Pin 1 = +CLK Pin 2 = +DATA Pin 3 = N/A Pin 4 = GND Pin 5 = VCC +5V DC PS/2: Pin 1 = +DATA Pin 2 = N/A Pin 3 = GND Pin 4 = VCC +5v DC Pin...

Re: Converted my old IBM Model M Keyboard to USB but........
I never thought of it that way. I have 2 of them, one manufactured in 1989 and the other (the one mentioned) in 1993. They certainly do last! The one I painted even has drainage holes in case you spill liquid in it. Model M's are truly the Jeeps of keyboards.

Re: Converted my old IBM Model M Keyboard to USB but........
Did some further research, turns out the adapter i used is just that, an adapter. I need a full ps/2 - USB converter for it to work reliably, looks like more soldering is in my future.

Converted my old IBM Model M Keyboard to USB but........
So I took an old Model M keyboard (Buckling spring key switches! yay!) and decided to paint it and convert it to USB. I bought one of These and spliced it in with the PS/2 wires internally in the keyboard so I have a little male USB plug sticking out the back It works great when plugged into my lapt...

Re: Dell Laptop, Windows Update Absolute Bizzaroness
Thanks for the help guys, flushing the DNS fixed things. Still I don't know how this happened twice in a row after two different OS's and two complete reformats. I put Avira free on every computer I service for people. I just make sure to let them know ahead of time that they will get one giant pop ...

Dell Laptop, Windows Update Absolute Bizzaroness
So a friend of mine has a Dell Latitude D620 and they were having troubles with it. I take a look at it. It's infested with all kinds of crap. I tell them they might be better off just letting me reformat for them. They backup their important stuff, I get the laptop, I reformat and put a clean insta...

Re: Rooted Android Phone Question(s)
Yes, you need to wipe everything. It can all be done through clockwork. One of the beauties of Android is that all your contacts and apps are stored on your Google account so once you login the first time it will re-download all your apps and restore your contacts automatically. Assuming you chose t...

Re: Rooted Android Phone Question(s)
CyanogenMOD 7 has the feature built in. You just have to change kernels and then you can set clocks and governors under the normal settings menu.

Re: Motorola Atrix 4G Smartphone Performance Benchmarks
Yup, this does it for me!
Well except i'm Verizon so it'll have to be a Droid Bionic. I'm curious to see how well these things over clock. On my OG Droid upping the clock from 600mhz to 1.1ghz has provided a HUGE performance increase.

Re: Rooted Android Phone Question(s)
A lot of users (myself included) root their phones so they can use custom ROMs. I'm running a nightly build of CyanogenMOD 7. Even though Motorola will never release a build of Gingerbread for the OG Droid, the community has released a few Gingerbread ports so far. There is an app called ROM Manager...

If that little sub can hit that low than I will eat my own head.
Still they look nice, if they were under $100 I might even buy some!

Re: Scythe announces new all-aluminum Monitor Speakers
This is BS just because they call them "monitors " does not mean they are, not if they only cover the 80hz-16khz spectrum plus those aluminum enclosures are not acoustically neutral, they will resonate and color the sound. Monitors are supposed to accuratley reproduce sound and not color t...

Re: AMD Releases Catalyst 10.10 Video Card Drivers for Downl
kind of random but related. I bought my 5870 in part because I was sick of getting blue screens from my X-fi and 8800GTS not playing nice together and the idea that it was Forceware related. I have been very happy with my 5870 EXCEPT when it comes to playing old games. A few weeks ago I was at a LAN...
