These Dominator DIMMs seem to be something better than Micron currently offers to Corsair for thier PC6400-C3 and PC8500-C5 DIMMs. Or maybe the same modules with fancy heat sinks that allow for more clock speed. Regardless the price will keep sales low I'd imagine. For you guy's on a budget I tested...

You might need SP2 Service Pack and log in as Admin account. Also try putting in the Mobo CD that has the audio drivers and then go to Computer Management and uninstall or disable the Audio Controller then reboot or Scan for hardware changes and then let the Windows Install Wizard search for the dri...

Ha Ha, noob, you still have a floppy drive :P lol, just messing, very nice first time build, that must have set you back some, but very nice rig! Dan (and yeah, the P5W DH DLX is very nice) Actually a Floppy is very important to have in the boot up sequence if all else fails. It is also valuable to...

My First Custom PC
Here is my first try at building a custom PC. Nothing fancy but it will be fast! I will add stuff such as another ATI card to run crossfire and some more drives, maybe even a passive set up eventually. It's a Lian Li PC-7B Plus Silent Warrior 140 case (from...http://www.performance-pcs.com). The cas...

Ok very cool. Well I am only on air so I won't be approaching 4+ GHz even on my X6800 I don't think. Probably high 3GHz range. :) So how does one aquire the latest Asus Mobo's? Do you buy retail and hope for the latest shipments. As they are coming in fast from many orders we will probably see more ...

I've got the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe. It seems to be the best one for overclocking and support for several kinds of Intel CPU's and all sorts of goodies. Also has the 975 chip set. It's worth the extra price if you are an OC'er and/or want all the add ons. Just look at all it's features and you will see ...

So basically the elevated MCH isn't much use. Correct? The standard MCH of 1.65v will get you within 77MHz of your max shown here. Am I missing any advantages of the 1.85v MCH board using the 1.65v version? Is this a BIOS update or do I need the hardware? My Mobo part number is #90-MBB2X1-G0AAY whic...

If you are on a pre-2000 system moving to a conroe would be a huge leap in performance... It's really an amazing processor. That was my thought too. I could go with any of the other cpu's from the last 5 years and still appreciate the differences for sure but today's Core 2 is just too good to pass...

Re: no need to overclock??
ah, now for the blind to lead the blind! here is an example using the default X6800 multipler of 11 at default speed, and also at and overclock of the fsb to 325mhz at both 1:1 and 4:5 and 2:3 11 x 266(fsb) = 2.926Ghz, default speed, ram is 533mhz at 1:1 11 x 325(fsb) = 3.575Ghz, overclocked, ram i...

no this would be one of the only ones that I would suggest right now for the power supplies that I have used. I also suggest reading: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/372/1/ Very good then. from some quick research it looks like an OEM Sesonic PSU :) and judging from the results i would day there is no danger of using this in a highend system. This was a great review and seems to be a really nice power supply but I sense from your thoughts that this isn't a good choice for a high-end ...

Ewart, I'm not going to be able to get the benchmarking done tongiht and I'm going out of town tomorrow! :( Not sure if your back yet; I've learnt some new info.. if my understanding is correct I do not even need to overclock the RAM in my planned scenario.. I saw something somewhere that implied t...
