Due to the constraints of the onboard memory controller, Conroes don't gain that much from faster RAM. Value DDR2-667 modules run quite good. That said, if you need to have the absolute best, performance DDR2-1000+ is the way to go. Since you are cheap, I mean, a student, DDR2-667 is probably the be...

What's your budget, would be the more important question. I think the Corsair 6400C3 and 6400C$ is CL4, but they might only be 1024 modules.

Protein, so that you don't waste time on eating. Caffeine will only keep you awake. You can't click the mouse and turn your eyeballs with atrophied arm and face muscles :P

EDIT: But yes, you need that too

It looks very cute. You'd better buy a plexiglass case, though, to show it off or otherwise you aren't getting your money's worth  Props to LR for the pics :)

How long was your system stable before this happened? Did you change any part of the hardware prior to the incident? Try disconnecting one of the hard drives, test the remaining one connected (chkdsk and a hard drive diagnostic from your vendor, preferably run an extended test), and then vice versa....

Oops, too late now I guess... but I was going to suggest taking a look at canadacomputers.com (located in ON and some of their stuff is cheap) and memoryexpress.com (located in AB and most of their stuff is cheap, plus if you live in AB you don't get PST :snakeman: ) I have searched all over the web...

I think HD size is very subjective. For most users, it's hard to fill 100 GB, but for people who regularly accumulate images, video, and/or p0rn, you can never have enough HD :p

That's a really really really good price. (Did I mention, really!)

I hear from people who go widescreen that they can never go back, even if it's 1440x900

Yeah, even with an unlocked multiplier, most reports find the FX-62 doesn't overclock that phenomenally, at least not compared to the X6800 at the similar price range

Edit: buying the 4200+ felt very strange, buying a processor that's cheaper than my motherboard... :-s

I guess I should post here..

Hi, I'm new here... er, obviously, since I'm posting here... :P Anyhow I'm a Canadian, with a geeky but healthy interest in computers. - I found this forum via a lovely article on overclocking the AMD 64 X2 4200+ and was inspired to post. - I run both an Intel P4 and an AMD X2 (technically own only ...

Apples to apples, please

I really hate people who unabashedly champion their intel "slant" yet demand for "fairness" in AMD related articles . :lame: Yes, everyone knows Conroe is the next coming of sliced bread. Intel finally made a CPU instead of a silicon-based heat generator. That, however, doesn't m...
