CPU voltage offset setting?
I just upgraded from an AMD 64 X2 4200+ to a 6000+ and had to reset some items in the BIOS. There is one item which I am not sure of and would like to know about. My board is an Asus M2N-E w/ BIOS v. 1001. The two options available are: 1) "Disabled" (default) and 2) "50.0 Mv". 1...

The BIOS in this sytem is not fully ACPI compliant
I'm needing a genuine "guru" to help resolve a serious problem. Hopefully someone here is up for the challenge. The following is long but perhaps necessary to provide information which would most likely be asked for anyway. The system is just short of a year old and has been working perfec...

'HT' what is it?
Thanks to the help of "HONkUS" I have been very successful in overclocking my AMD 64 X2 4200+ to a stable and respectable 2.7 Ghz. So now that I feel relatively comfortable overclocking, my interest is now upon the various elements that one changes in the BIOS to actually do the oc. Specif...

Perhaps for the 775 socket. But Frosty also rates the Noctua NH-U12 as the best performing HSF unit in This review conclusion. And the NH-U9 as #3. Go figure. hehe

You might want to consider one of the Noctua products, e.g., see this review:Noctua NH-U12. I'm personally going to go with the smaller version here: Noctua NH-U9F. Don't get caught up in what's "trendy".

I don't know where you got this idea that the M2N-E needs memory that runs at 1.8v? The Mushkin RAM I have is running at 1.95v. In fact, before building this rig I called Mushkin directly and they were more than familiar with this board and specifically told me to set the memory voltage to 1.95. The...

1) Re: v0402 beta BIOS - Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information on what was changed from the previous version 0304 which fixed an issue with memory voltage problems. 2) Re: mb overclockability (is that a word? hehe) I obviously was a little unclear in my previous remarks. Yes, I ...

A few questions: Are you using a M2N-E or M2N-SLi? As mentioned in the article, both performed similarly in overclocking. What BIOS are you running? 228Mhz on the HTT looks like the wall everyone else has been hitting, making the M2N-E and others only suitable for higher multi CPUs. The X2 3800+ wo...

Well, here is my own report for my system: M2N-E Bios: 0405 (Beta), AMD 64 X2 4200+ Windsor, Mushkin PC5300 667 (2x1gig). Below are my results from overclocking this CPU for both stock (2200 Mhz) and oc (2508.1 Mhz). All Benchmark tests were run in Everest Ultimate v3.50.761. I also ran Super Pi and...

Answers: 2) In the article I showed what to adjust and gave some examples on how to do it. Just follow along and give it a try. Well, as I said, I have read the article, multiple times in fact, but unfortunately, it was over my head. I'm uncertain if I would need to change the CPU vcore (whatever t...

Welcome to the forums... You heard about AMD's 4x4 system? Is that a desktop PC or a workstation? ;) Thanks to both for the warm welcome. I'm not sure who you are addressing with your question, but assuming it is me, the answer is possibly. hehe I recently read about the ongoing CPU war going on be...

I have some basic questions about overclocking which I am hoping someone can answer. My system specs: - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ - Asus M2N-E - Mushkin SP 5300 667 (2x1gig) - EVGA E-GEFORCE 7600 GT KO - Stock cooling My goal is to bump my CPU to 2.5-2.6 using the stock cooling. Average core temp 34º-3...

Hi
I am officially retired but still hire out as a IT Systems/Computer Advisor and maintain a small local office with 30 workstations. Since I have free time available to me I decided to build my own system, finally.... and now have an interest in possibly overclocking it for fun.
