Re: Win7/8 free upgrade to Win10

https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu - what every windows 10 install needs! I'm ok with Win10 but.... I have a cpl friends who have went to Win10 from Win7 and I've had quite a few calls and texts asking.... "where is this and where is that, I hate win10... they changed the names of everyt...

Re: Win7/8 free upgrade to Win10

I decided my HTPC would be the guinea pig, and installed last night. I downloaded Win10 Upgrade Assistant, installed directly from net as an upgrade to keep apps and files. It took about an hour on that dinosaur but it shows as activated. Some things didn't make the upgrade, probably because those ...

Re: OLOy????

Saw them but figured it was just another flyby company that changes its name every few years to snag profit and avoid paying bills :) Maybe Nate can reach out and get some stuff for reviews! That would be cool! Trusted review would be a nice way to get their product noticed even more. https://www.o...

Re: Win7/8 free upgrade to Win10

Has anyone here successfully done this? Does it work with a fresh install using my Win7 Key, or do I have to upgrade from the same drive that Win7/8 is on? How would this work with a dual-boot situation? ie: Win7 on one SSD, Win8.1 on a separate SSD with bootloader defaultiing to Win7 unless overid...

OLOy????

Where did this new memory company come from?
All of a sudden some months ago OLOy showed up on Newegg, never heard of them!
Anyone know anything about them?
Seen a couple memory/computer parts brands come and go over the years, is this going to be one of them?

I can confirm that kaspersky has caused issue on windows 7 causing bsod. using the removal tool Knightrid linked helped fix the issue. However never had this issue with windows 10.
That raises a question that has not been asked yet!
Merlin, Win7 or Win10?

Re: crashes

I may be doing something wrong or not doing something at all. When you say "start up the driver" in safe mode what exactly are you doing? I restarted the system in safe mode and went to the device manager and there were a few items that showed the yellow sign with ! in it and all of those said that...

Re: Win7 Updates

Soooo, after letting this sit for several weeks, I decided to just reload Win7. It's up and running with no issues! Gotta love Win7 and a SSD! 17 mins from the time I put the disc in to looking at the desktop! I chose to just reinstall 7 simply to hold on to my copy of Win 10 Pro for a new build! Wh...

Re: AMD Stock soars...

The new cpu's from AMD take me back to the early years when they were smacking Intel around a bit! That's for sure! :axe: Almost all the reviews I've seen in the last couple weeks, have established AMD's lead against Intel on main stream desktop CPU's! With the new ThreadRippers coming out I see th...

AMD Stock soars...

Today AMD's stock closed at $41.29 and had gains in after hours trading! The story I read says its at its highest point in 13 yrs but, I did a little check and was able to go back to 1980 and AMD's stock is higher than at any point between now then! The last time it was close to these levels was in ...

Re: Win7 Updates

after installing windows 7 i never update. to have it secured i install a good firewall, antivirus and phishing, clean and maintain the pc and use common sense. have to be pretty naive to think the so called 'security updates' are there to protect us and our pc's. they there to implement better spy...

Re: Win7 Updates

I 100% disagree with Bubba on that one....Windows 10 interface SUCKS. I absolutely hate it! It makes everything way too hard or makes you have to search for what you want. :vom: Boot Manager missing... Check your boot order in BIOS and make sure you arent trying to boot from the wrong drive - hey, ...

Re: Win7 Updates

Windows 10 isn't all that bad once you get used to the new routes to various things. As for the Open Shell, I would try life without it first. Right clicking on the start in Win10 gets you to most places. Pin control panel to the start, and what ever else you use on the regular. Done. Yeah I've had...
