Re: 4GB DDR2-800 - x8 organisation

oops thanks! Guess i had it all wrong :) lol - its hardly clear. After being told by crucial/kingston and several others their 2GB dimms were all x16 config I did some more research. Looks like they all have no idea what they are talking about. I'm assuming they all quoted me the chip count ...

Re: Crucial Ballistix Problems

Intrestingly I've experienced similar problems with my four 1GB Ballistix modules I bought just over a year ago. Originally I had two ballistix dimms in an Intel DG965WH board (aim was to move them to my Intel XBX2 and get 8GB for the DG965 later on). Initially they ran fine at 800, but after a coup...

Re: 4GB DDR2-800 - x8 organisation

The list only has double sided dimms in x8 configuration. Any x16s are single sided.

The only DIMM manufacturer who seem to publish organisation information is Mushkin - but thats almost impossible to get hold of in the UK.

4GB DDR2-800 - x8 organisation

Does anyone know of any 2GB DDR2-800 DIMMS with x8 organisation?

Intel for the 35 and 965 chipsets specify "Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported" but I can't find any that arn't!

Thanks

Re: d975xbx2 "SPD Tolerance" error

Most performance DDR modules have several SPD profiles. I believe the DDR800 specification states modules should be 1.8v with a latency of 5ns. Therefore to ensure compatibilty all memory modules will have the default profile set to 5-5-5-15 (or there abouts) so that the module will run correctly at...

Re: Intel D975XBX2

Where exactly is setup crashing? Are you using a comercial Vista CD or a burnt copy?

You could try disabling core multiplexing. Also what voltage/speed/timing specs does your memory have?

Re: XBX2 Freezing

I am definitely not as advanced as you guys when it comes to computers. But, I am having the same problem. Except, I did not do anything with my computer prior to this issue surfacing. My system was running flawlessly and was bulletproof until last week. I have a bad axe 2 with e6400 (non OC'ed) 2g...

Re: XBX2 Freezing

After finding out it would be a week before Intel would even call me back to do troubleshooting(!), I decided to buy a new motherboard. The system has been rebuilt using the Intel DP35DP and everything is fine again. I did look at getting the new DX38BT but I would have had to spend shed loads on DD...

Re: XBX2 Freezing

Thanks for your reply. The new hard disk was external with its own psu - so no load on the computer PSU. All my spare PSUs are 3hr round trip away. Will try one at the weekend if I havn't got anywhere. I've been playing with MemTest86+ and I think i've come to the conclusion the boards broken - I ge...

XBX2 Freezing

My XBX2 system has just started locking up randomly. It doesn't take very long after booting - sometimes it will lock before I login, but other times 10/15 mintues after boot. It all started yesterday when I went to install a new eSATA drive. I updated the BIOS from 2692, which i've been running for...

5A is "Resetting PATA/SATA bus and all devices" I'd unplug all your SATA/PATA devices and see if that makes any difference.

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem

I had a bit of a scare with my RAID 0 on the intel controller this morning - Matrix Manager reported a drive missing and I could only access some of the files. Rebooted and all was ok again. Anyway - the data on the RAID array used to be unimportant, but thats changed, so i'm looking at going RAID 1...

Re: 3.25GB out of 4.0GB on 32-bit OSes on D975XBX2

Here is a MS KB article on the memory limitation on 32bit Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605 I've read this. As I've indicated, I got an opteron dual core 280 system on a Tyan S2892 that takes 4GB and shows 4GB on 32 bit windows, so I consider this a non-answer from Microsoft. I believe ...

Re: Intel Releases D975XBX2 BIOS Update 2663 For Download

There is also a new Sigmatel audio driver for Vista 32/64. No Audio Studio, DCC or IDU for Vista yet. Sean I had problems with the new Sigmatel driver - lots of stuttering generally and it would take about 5 secs for a track to start playing in Media Player. I've gone back to the previous version.

Hi Sean,

Are you running Quad Core too? Also what graphics card do you have?

I can't see anything obvious in the BIOS release note that would effect Vista x64 install.

Have you both emailed Intel? Will be intresting to see if the MS hotfix works.

Get the Vista x64 installation to crash again and see if you can get a minidump off the computer.

Should be located in %WINDIR%\minidump\*.dmp

If you email it/upload it somewhere i can then have a look

The core multiplexing option disables all but the primary core, effectively turning the chip into a single core processor.

Seems for some reason Vista x64 doesn’t like your 4 cores. Does Vista x32 install ok or is it just x64?

Not sure what else to suggest. I'd probably at this stage try and get a minidump file from the computer and see if there's anything helpfull in that. It might identify which driver/hardware is causing the problem. http://www.adopenstatic.com/cs/blogs/ken/archive/2006/10/03/Causes_2C00_-and-tips-for-...

Have you unplugged everything you can prior to install - ie USB device, sound etc.. Also, what are you memory timings, are they set to the most conservative.

Have you got another graphics card you could try?
