Re: Latest D975XBX2 Bios and Overclocking

John- That doesn't sound good. If you aren't seeing any BIOS text at all, then I guess it must be a CPU speed / RAM timing issue. If you were having drive problems you'd at least see some of the BIOS messages before the hang. Good luck- I know what a pain it can be to troubleshoot these issues if yo...

Re: Latest D975XBX2 Bios and Overclocking

I know 4 sticks worked for you before, but have you tried dropping to just one or two sticks of RAM since this problem started to see if that helps? Have you tried reverting to the older BIOS to see if that helps?

Re: Latest D975XBX2 Bios and Overclocking

Johnny- No problems here with a QX6700 running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. What's happening when you try to OC? Is the watchdog kicking in, or are you getting the 3 beeps? You may need to power off, unplug the power cord, turn the power back on with the power unplugged to drain power, then move the jumpe...

In the BIOS settings, under Performance/Processor Overrides, there is the option CPU Voltage Override that lets you set the CPU voltage from 1.2875 to 1.6. There are also options to adjust voltage to the memory, FSB and MCH/ICH. I'm doing modest overclocking without changing any of the voltages (CPU...

Intel Desktop Control Center V3.0 for Vista/32 posted

Get it here.

I'm getting pretty tired of them not releasing Vista 64-bit compatible software. You'd think a company like Intel, who advertises 64-bit, should be able to release compatible software!

Anyone try performing a BIOS update on a Vista 32/64 machine? I'm still using version 2634 but haven't really been able to find a solution that's easy to follow. Guess I could always reinstall a 1.44 floppy. What a lousy way to perform an update. :( http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=88...

I use ISO Recorder. Works great and it's free. I'm running it under Vista 64-bit just fine.

There's no readme file, so I don't know the differences, other than the obvious comparison to the last one that didn't work very well. It does say WHQL certified, but I think the last one did, too. This one does let you set the balance between all of your speakers. I thought the original one only le...

Intel just posted a newer Sigmatel driver for Vista. I installed it under Vista Ultimate 64-bit and it seems to work fine. No pops, buzzes, or long delays when switching tracks.

Joey-

I'm also running Vista 64 Ultimate on a Bad Axe 2. When I update the BIOS, I use the ISO option, and have no issues.

Try this- unplug the power cord and push the power button to discharge the power supply. Then change the jumper to maintenance (don't remove entirely) and power back on.

Vista will let you load drivers off USB thumb drives during install, and probably also from CD.

I'm not currently using the Marvell SATA ports, but Intel posted a driver update. Maybe it fixes some of the problems people are having?

Marty-

The FSB is quad pumped, so 266MHz x 4 = 1066MHz. I'm currently running mine at 300MHz x 4 = 1200MHz with no problems, and played around a little with 333MHz x 4 = 1333MHz which seemed OK, too.
