@ apoptosis:
Do you have a sense of whether the 256gb corsair drive will have issues with fragmentation? I am not sure any controller gets around this as it has to do with how data is ulitmately placed in NAND versus stored on a platter.
Thanks

Re: Skulltrail issues
Hi Apoptosis (we study that in my lab) and Martini, Thank you for your comments. I ran 3 simultaneous instances of memtest (2000 kb) EACH and the memory checked out fine. I have provided the links below documenting that this issue seems to have affected others. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/2373...

Hi everyone, I have a Skulltrail (Intel D5400XS) motherboard running 2 qx9775 cpus. Vista 64 bit, EVGA 280GTX card, 4 Crucial DDR2 800 FB Dimms (2 gb each), PC Power and Cooling 1.2 KW Power supply, and 2 WD raptor drives in a raid 0 configuration. Case is a Coolermaster 830 series. The machine runs...

You got proof of this like Links from the other websites listed in your post? I believe Sparky has provided the link for the EVGA information I listed. Here is the link for the GTL mod from FreeCableGuy at TheTechrepository: http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=88 And here is the open ...

Evga 680i revision
Hi all, the first generation 680i boards as well as 975x-based boards have a limition in their abiility to stably run Intel Quad core cpus at a FSB much over 300. The culprit is the low GTL voltage present in these chipset based boards. The BX2 is not different in this respect. I have asked on this ...

@Geodesic et al., I was running a qx6700 with a bx2, 4 sticks of crucial ddr2 1000 ram evga 8800gtx graphics and a pc power and cooling 850 watt powersupply. My board revision was 502. I did not experience any difficulty with the sound system using the program from the MB CD. I did experience a diff...

I saw an article in the inquirer using an Asus Striker 680i board to overclock a 3000 series xeon. Yes it did reach a good fsb, a similar OC was achieved using the new DFI board with the rd600 chipset, which addresses the GTL issue in the bios. An article at the techrepository shows how the bx2 has ...

975bx2 support for higher fsb using a kentsfield cpu
There is lots of chatter regarding the limitations associated with increasing the fsb using a kentsfiled cpu. As I understand the issue the limitation is the GTL voltage is too low on all current 975 and 680i chipset boards to sustain a fsb much above 300. Because quad core cpus use the bus to commu...

@ dandruff: I will be happy to copy my original post and send it to the support section at intel. @ Seanriddle: Thanks for the suggestion about hitting the alt and ctrl keys. I am not sure if I will ever get to try it. I have decided to gut my new system and put the bx2 in a box. I am a total hardwa...
