Re: AMD Bulldozer 8170

According to various road maps, the Trinity APU will begin production in March of 2012. Trinity APU's will have up to four next generation bulldozer (piledriver) cores and an AMD 7000 series graphics core. Early benchmarks floating around the interwebs suggest anywhere from a 20-30% increase in perf...

Re: Need SMART Software Recommendations

The only problem with SMART is software only gives you its present condition. A lot of drives lack any sort of logging feature so there is no history of any threshold exceeded errors. Also drives attached via USB or Firewire generally fail to report SMART errors correctly. This also true when it com...

Re: Boot Issues with Intel DP67BG Mobo

According to Intel's website, BIOS revision 2076 for this board fixes an issue where some video cards with a high amount of memory will not work (kinda of vague). I would update to the latest BIOS version and start from there.

Re: AMD APU Question

Unfortunately the AMD Dual Radeon Graphics technology only allows you to pair up to a Radeon 6670 with an AMD A6 or A8 APU. The combination is displayed as a Radeon 6690D2.

Re: NVIDIA GT 540m and Autodesk Maya Issues....PLEASE HELP!!

Unfortunately there have been a lot of problems using NVidia GPU's that utilize Optimus technology on programs such as 3D Studio Max, Mudbox and Maya. It appears its some sort of drivers issue, but nVidia is mum on the issue. Some people experience huge memory leaks and some report general instabili...

Re: FX-4100 or G840 for non gaming Photoshop type rig

I would spend the extra $50 to go with the core i3. Spending the extra $50 gets you Hyperthreading which should help a bit in Vegas and Quick Sync which really helps in encoding. Really the only the G840 has going for it is lower power consumption. I would avoid the FX-4100 (and I'm typically an AMD...

Re: AM2+ processor in AM3+ motherboard

AM2+ versions of the Phenom II (such as the 920 and 940) are not forward compatible with the AM3/AM3+ as they lack a DDR3 memory controller. AM3 versions of the Phenom II are forward compatible with the AM3+ and also backwards compatible with AM2+ sockets as they have both an integrated DDR2 and DDR...

Hello Legit Reviewers

Hello All! Looking forward to being a part of the Legit Review community. A little background on myself.
