Yes, I wanted to burn my XBX! Nice to know that the issue is more related to the 5000 rather than my Mobo. Still frustrating though. I want to upgrade to Vista but don't feel like all the hassles...... Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.

gara56, you just confirmed the same issue....my problem must stem from the Logitech QuickCam 5000 cause that is the thing that makes the issue happen. If I don't enable that camera, then I can use the on-board audio along with my Hauppauge capture card. Thanks so much for your inputs!

Problems came back after I used the devices and wrote my previous reply.... So I took Sporg's advice, bought a SB card and everything works now. Really sad that I had to spend more money to get the sound working on an expensive board. Live and learn! Can't wait to move to Vista, I may not have any h...

I'm not sure what resolutions I'll be running on games, but it will be with Combat Flight Sim3.

Thanks for the inputs.

Thanks for the inputs so far. Apoptosis, thanks a lot for introducing a new card in the mix! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814195024 Neweggs sells this ATI x1950 for $389 so it's a great deal at $220. Is the nVidia card that much better? BTW, every time I see your handle my to...

ATI x1650 vs. x1950

I'm in the market for a new card for my D975XBX2 board. The PC will primarily be used for Photoshop and home video editing, but when it comes to games it will be used for some newer flight sims. I have focused on these two because I can get a nice discount. The price difference is about $70. Any inp...

FIxed!

Well, after lots of uninstall/reinstall and sequencing....I finally got it working. What a pain in the ass! (sorry for the language it does fit though!) Thanks to all for your assistance. This board seems to be very picky and sensitive to which version of driver is used and the order in which you in...

You can check to see if the DIMM works by swapping it with the one you were using before. Swap slots with the other might be another option. Is the board picky on what slots you can populate?

Thanks Gilp. I tried to install that driver and it works as long as I don't install and enable any other devices that have an input (microphone). As soon as I enable other input devices the stratchy speaker output returns. I even tried using my video capture card, burn a disk and play it on my DVD p...

If I disable my Logitech camera and Hauppauge video capture cards (remove this one's driver) I get the audio back. So now it seems I cannot add anything with an audio input device on to my regular PCI slots. Any ideas???????????

D975XBX2 Stratchy Audio

On to the 3rd issue so far... The green audio jack and the audio header on the board (connection to the headphone jack to front of case) output a scratchy output that makes the audio unrecognizable. I've tried turning off all wireless devices in close proximity as well as reloading the audio drivers...

Sean, nice suggestion! It worked! I didn't realize something that subtle could do the trick. Do you know why it matters which SATA position needs to be used for the OS if you add a second one?

Thanks Sean!

D975XBX2 - 2nd SATA trouble

I built the system with one SATA for starters and added another. I'd like to just use them both as standard HDs (the 2nd for data storage). I'm using SATA0 and SATA1. When I plug the second drive in and reboot I get an error and the machine will not boot correctly. I can plug the interface cable in ...

Well, looks like it was a driver issue of some sort. It's a bit confusing though since my USB ports on the back of the case are working. I used the Intel Express Installer CD again and presto! Funny, it didn't work the first time I tried it.
Thanks!
