With my D975XBX it takes nearly 20 sec until the Intel Logo is displayed.

Thanks for the hint. With such a Tool I might get the S.M.A.R.T attributes of the drives (which is better than nothing) but not the current temperature. For hard disks configured in a RAID I do not know of any way to monitor their temperature. The Windows tools don not work with Raids, Intel Matrix Storage Software does not display temps, the BIOS of my D975XBX does not show HD temps. Replacing the VIA PCI controller with a Delock PCI-Express controller
