Thought maybe dead pixels but it would seem pretty strange for a whole patch to die all at once. I'm wondering if it's a result of a video card in its death throes? I'm using a Gateway 19" widescreen LCD that I got at CompUSA on sale for $200. I'm happy with it so far for general use and gaming...

WHOO HOOO!!!

Got a reply over at the PCMech.com forums suggesting something called the boiling water technique. It seems to have worked as all four discs installed without a hiccup after taking a very hot bath. Only playing the game all the way through will tell if it was 100% successful but so far it seems to p...

New Build - Asus P5B Deluxe Questions

I have a new Asus P5B Deluxe and will be overclocking it once I get my system built. My question's are - would it be worth it to pull the NB and SB coolers off, clean off whatever thermal goo Asus uses, then re-install using Arctic Silver 5? Looking at my mobo, it looks like the coolers are held on ...

Well, all went smoothly Seems that EVGA attaches the thermal tape to the heatsink itself - when you remove the 4 screws holding it on, it just about falls off in your hand. Cleaned the old thermal goo off the chipset and cleaned the RAM so the ramsinks stuck and the rest was gravy. Took my mobo (P5B...

Help replacing stock cooler on 7950GT

Hey - I'm new to the forums and also a 1st time system builder I've got a brand new EVGA 7950GT and want to replace the stock cooler with a Zalman VF900-CU that I bought. It comes with directions but they're kind of lacking in detail. I've never done this kind of thing before and could use some tips...

Hello from California!

Hi All

1st time system builder here looking to learn - will probably have lots of silly questions but I'll try to read the sticky's and use search first. Look forward to becoming a productive member of the community and helping others when I can!
