Re: Class 6 vs Class 10 SD cards

Hm, I was personally wondering this myself as I might jump for a Canon T1i, and I remember from my first Digital Camera purchase that it was an issue at the time. My Canon XTI has a small wait in RAW, but it's not long enough for me to care. I had a kodak a few years back that took a good few second...

Re: Windows 7 Has Catastrophic Bug

Since ya brought up this old thread I guess I'll pitch in. Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky says this is by design, not a bug. And only the one individual seemed able to reproduce the actual crash: In this case, we haven’t reproduced the crash…. [T]he design was to use more memory on purpose to speed thi...

Re: i7 920 vs i7 8XX question

OK, I am the first to admit I'm a little slow....But I'm trying to make up my mind as to which processor, 920 vs 8XX, to buy for my next system (expected build date in October). From what I can figure out, there is the power diff (130 W vs 95W), different sockets, and the 920 supports three channel...

Re: different model gpu folding

As best I know, the GPU's still have to be similar to one another to fold together in a single system. I tried folding an 8600GTS with an 8800GTS but I couldn't even get that to work. The GPU's shouldn't need to be identical, but they still need to be really similar models/cores for it to work.

Re: Microsoft Windows 7 RC will go public on May 5

Well... 1) No classic start menu 2) Pinned applications instead of a quick launch 3) You have to dig too deep to get to your network card just to initialize a "repair" 4) The taskbar in general - I just don't like how it's setup 5) Still no option to uninstall Media Center and other Ultim...

That fan would have to be damn loud...

I'd hate having one of these cards. 4x the cores & memory, that's just 4x the risk of parts failing. It'd probably be a high RMA part and not last very long. :|

Re: Best NAS Server...

After using my TS-409, I agree it's definitely a better alternative than using an old outdated computer and turning it into a NAS. QNAP seemingly provides everything, from the ability to use it as a websever to a online photo gallery to simply tieing/syncing the NAS with a free DNS server for remote...

Re: Best NAS Server...

I love my QNAPS-409, would highly recommend QNAPS for the support, features, and performance. The faceplate would occasionally start rattling on mine, but it uses the old design before they implemented key locks on the HDD trays. The network share folder access permissions are also a little funky to...

Seconded. If you still run into problems after this, then likely you probably need to install ACHI drivers for XP when it asks for disk drivers.

Re: What would be the biggest boost?

New board + CPU + some overclocking on the side. ;) Overclocking will have the same effect of turning your 95W TDP CPU intl a 125W TDP CPU (Or turning a 125W TDP CPU into something higher) depending on how far you take it, so I wouldn't suggest OCing on that ECS board if it is one of those models on...

Re: Newegg shipping change?

Never had a damaged package shipped from the Egg before, but for some reason, the Egg has never beat 5-days getting stuff out to me. They have always been the slow ones over the years. Directron has been quicker. Then you should play the lottery, as I can't recall anyone that hasn't had something b...

Re: CoolerMaster Cebit 2009 - 53GHz in ONE PC Case!

53GHz is such a misnomer... and is why we see people on ebay selling Q6600's as 9.6Ghz processors. ](*,) It's interesting, but users can't put GPUs in there. Five Q9400 Quads would only fold roughly about as many points as a GTX 285. Find a way to build some good F@H GPUs into that set up and then I...

Well I finally figured it out. I went in to Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings and unchecked Automatically Detect Settings and I'm on line again using Windows 7 Beta and IE8. I'm a Time Warner cable customer and they just announced they were hacked last week with a denial of service attack...

Re: Newegg shipping change?

I suspect this will answer most questions: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/16447 And yes, one would think DHL was going away, but apparently Newegg is using them through UPS, which then hands some Newegg Saver shipping packages over to the USPS. Considering the routing of some of these packages,...

No. That's just NVIDIA showing they can BS just as well as Intel can.
