How did you determine that the CPU was bad? 1) Can you boot-up at all? if so then it is most likely not the CPU. 2) Is your system overclocked? then the CPU could be the problem, then you just need to change the settings or return it to default speed/ voltage/ multiplier. 3) How did the system crash...

WAIT!!! you dont want those drivers, you are running Vista correct? than why are you downloading drivers for windows XP/2000? go under "graphics driver -> geforce TNT2 -> windows Vista 32bit" you have to be careful and read the various choices, looking for one that suits you best, not just...

I'd say unless you are looking to directx10 games, just go for a 7600GT, or a 7900gs. both are great for the games you listed. By the sounds of it the power of an 8800GTS would be wasted on those games. However in a year or so you most likely will be regretting the 7600GT or 7900GS. it all depends o...

I believe that they will be releasing the 8600GTS /GT with 256bit. It seems logical, Nvidia released the 8600's quickly to get a mainstream card out to market, beating out ATI's mainstream cards. Realizing how much the public disagrees with the mediocre performance increase compared to the other x60...

Just thought I should share some tidbits of advice for you all. Core 2's have maximum temps of around 60 degrees C, temps higher than that can cause damage. To clarify, you are talking about idle temps right? Since stock settings on most c2d's I have seen run over 60C constantly during load. If the...

well ciscokid, http://www.xoxide.com I would recommend going there first, better deals than newegg or tigerdirect for cooling stuff. I have been very satisfied with my ThermalTake Big Water SE, and ThermalTake GPU water block too. only $120 for it, or you could go for the ThermalTake silent water sy...

Sorry about the multi-post, still getting used to using forums.

The P5N32-E SLI and the P5N32 SLI deluxe are completerly different. the "-E" means it is using the 680i chipset. and its northbridge, properly cooled, can burn you to the touch easily.

any one have any tips?

Northbdige cooling advise

Hey everyone,

I have a P5N32-E SLI 680i motherboard. The north/ south bridge gets very hot. The motherboard already has some pretty extensive heat piping.

I was wondering, has anyone tried any after market coolers with this, or any 680i motherboards?

For that much o a hassle to install, and the amount of space it takes up, you could easily go for a liquid cooling kit.

Worried about it ripping out your motherboard? I would be more worried about what it would do to my hand/foot if it ever fell out!

I feel quite bad for AMD as well. AMD's CPU division is getting pounded by Intel, and shows no sign of being able to mount any sort of counter Intel. Intel has the overclocking community with their overclockable Core's, the server market is taking a hit with quad core's, and Intel has 45 nm's coming...

I would recommend against going for 4 gigs, maybe at the most get another gig. Going from 512 mag of RAM to 1 gig increases performance by 50 percent, while going from 1 gig to 2 gigs only offers an increase of 10 percent. Before you upgrade, look for some programs out there that monitor your RAM us...

Sorry I cannot be of more help, but all I can recomend, is going for: 1. Core 2 Duo E6400 2. Asus makes several motherboards that easily fit you budget. 3. Any case that takes ATX, and comes with atleast a 450 watt PSU. The rest of the $800 can go to the other components such as video card, RAM, etc...

Despite Vista's supposed short comings, it will be the new standard, like it or not. Have you taken a look at what OCZ has? Their platinum edition is pretty good. nice overclocker, I put mine from 800 mhz, 4-5-4-15 to 900mhz, 4-4-4-13. and they have a warrentee for their RAM, up to 2.2 volts. I have tried them at upto 2.4 volts, and they remain cool to the touch Or You can get some ...

The problem is most likely your power supply. Despite what other sites might tell you, go with what the manufacturer recommends. Nvidia most likely recommends atleast 250 watts. For what power supply, I highly recommend the Hiper type R, it is modular, 560 watts, and very well built, if looking for ...

Go for OCZ platinum edition. Though you want to got for very fast RAM, and thus very expensive. it is very useless. If your RAM frequency exceeds your FSB, then that creates a bottleneck, you would then have to drop the CPU multiplyer, and increase the FSB. picture filling a 20 ounce coke bottle wit...

I highly doubt it would work, first you would need to have a BIOS that supports it, second, core 2 duo requires a different chipset. and finally they are incompatable sockets.
