Re: Palit 8800 GTS 1GB Sonic SLI Video Card Review

I'm surprised you fellows didn't bother trying Crysis with some Very high settings to see if the extra ram made a difference there. DiRT with Ultra details would have been another good one to fire up.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 Video Card Review

I wish more would test this card against nVidia's offerings in titles that allow 8xAA and use said setting.

Re: AMD Radeon HD 3850 Quad CrossFire - CrossFireX Pictures

I have a question. I saw your review on HD 3850 Crossfire and the picture you showed of Overdrive showed a possible GPU core clock of 770. I am on Vista x64 and have an MSI HD 3850 that comes @ 690 on the core. When I install and unlock the 7.12 driver I can only set up to 730 max in Overdrive. Any ...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

I ditched the BX2 and bought a cheap P35 motherboard for now. I got the Abit IP35-E from Mwave for 70usd after rebate. One thing I do love about this board is it properly initializes my GTX when I restart, or that is I don't have to turn my monitor on and off to get a signal. My BX2 did not do this ...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

I just started priming 3.5 on 1.45v now. I could boot 3.6 like that and prime will not run and it's not stable. The BX2 did the same thing with my Xeon. I really don't think it's the chip. I am not buying a P35 right now because I want to see how it compares to X38. So I suppose it's going to be 3.5...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

Well Newegg refunded my money on the X3220 because they were OOS when they received my RMA. I went a head and ordered a Q6600 in G-0 that should be in later this week. If you guys are looking for a guaranteed G-O stepping ClubIT and Allstarshop have them. ClubIT has G-0s for 299usd. http://www.clubi...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

I believe it's luck of the draw. You aren't guaranteed a good OC regardless of the chip. I would buy the newer stepping (G-0) as it uses less voltage and thus produces less heat. Buy what is available and at the best price. When going for a Q6600 you want the Prod Code on the box to end in SLACR- ht...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

Bad news here. When I installed my TR U-120 Extreme I had no post with the Xeon X3220. It was running fine in the BX2. I tried an E6320 and my old E6600 in the same motherboard and they work fine. I tried resetting the CMOS and removing the battery etc. Something happened to my X3220. RMA I 'spose. ...

Re: 9x333, 8x375, or 7x428 on a Q6600 - Which is faster?

Wish I could remember where I results akin to these. Basically, I've seen data that suggests a Core chip at its native multi will be faster than one lower to the same said multi due to issues with the strap|chipset. IE 8x400 on an E6400 should be slightly faster than 8x400 on an E6600 that has had i...

Re: D975XBX2 Overclocking - rookie getting started - needs help

Disable EIST and kill C1E plus Watchdog in the config jumper position save and exit. You can turn C1E and EIST back on later after you get your OC stable. Once you move the jumper back to its default position enter the BIOS and beging changing the other settings. Enhanced Power Slope should be enabl...

Re: The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

I'll have some formal results next week. I have a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme incoming. I am stuck with a B3 CPU so I won't be going that high. So far I've been up to 3.5 on 1.5v and the heat dump is wicked. I am definitely going to get a decent Penryn Quad with they hit. With a lot of work I mig...

The Q6600 Overclocking Thread

I suppose I'll start one. If one is already up I missed, delete this. Many people are springing for Q6600s so now would be a good time to start sharing results. If you get a Xeon X3220 post those results too. Note things like; stepping, clock, system voltages, cooling, and motherboard. I have a Xeon...

If you are in the US just buy it from Mwave. They are up to 279usd now and that's not bad at all.

Newegg has the Xeon X3220 for 315usd now and in stock. Elsewhere it is still well over 500usd:

If you're looking for Q6600s in the US and don't want to pay Newegg's current price (was up to 350usd): Allstarshop has Q6600s in for 298usd- http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/product.asp?ad=fg&pid=17178 ZZF has 'em for 295usd- http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80864&...
