You can buy thermal compound at Newegg.com or any other PC etailer. I would expect temps of low to mid 30's at idle.

Ya, that temp is too high. Remove the heatsink and reinstall it using Arctic Silver or Ceramique. Don't use too much as this is one of those times where more is NOT better.

Some people are of the mindset that Hollywood actors already make enough money through advertising (millions) without worrying about DVD sales. Hell, Simon Cowell makes a cool $50 million a year just from American Idol...that's Friggin' Ridiculous! That's nearly a million dollars a week! He ...

Re: AbuDhabi's ATIC eyes full Globalfoundries ownership
Shame really. American companies/corporations design the chips then outsource them to some third world country to produce them. Like most manufacturing items we need to keep this stuff in our borders. It might cost the end consumer a few more dollars but the trade off is worth it to me. I could not...

Ya really, good luck with that one. The only thing that motivates big companies like those two is money. And I'm not so sure it's in either of their best interest to work together.

Re: Thermal Compounds
Yes, back on topic indeed. Ceramique uses aluminum oxide, boron nitride, and zinc oxide, whereas Arctic Silver 5 uses, ummm, silver. When they are applied properly (this is KEY), one conducts heat just as well as the other. The only reason why you'd want to use Ceramique is because it lasts longer w...

Re: Thermal Compounds
i lapped my E7200 and Heatsink, but that only dropped temps by a few degrees, i dont see that it'd be worth it if the heatsink looks flat and doesn't have paint on it lol Not to mention that it also voids the warranty on your CPU. By the way...I know this is kind of anal, but since this is an enthu...

Re: [Question] CPU & System Temps
Most likely the BIOS is correct. I was thinking the same, but it just doesn't seem likely that the cpu temp is 25c (77f) after 6 hours of intense gaming. That is only a few degrees above room temp. I use Real Temp and Hwmonitor on my machine and they always show the exact same temps. Are you checki...

Wow, maybe you shouldn't take things so literally. I knew exactly what he was saying.
We all know that PC's are a money pit, but the better care you take of it, the less you will lose when you sell it.

Don't panic if you accidentally reformat a disk that has useful data. Reformatting does not erase the data on the disk, only the address tables.
