Dancing for the Man.
So - I keep having to assert my knowledge of Irish Labour law to my bosses. Somehow I still get screwed. I'm about to have new boss who I used to tell how to do her job. I won't work for her. I told my current bosses this. I got into a fight with my old boss about the job, because he was defending t...

Re: Get in Touch with Your Geeky Side
No contest, superman wins. Sure there is the whole cryptonite thing, but check out how many other powers he has. That guy should be unstoppable. Dan Dude, it's "kryptonite." Named after planet Krypton. Seriously, if you're gonna vote, at least be an informed voter. :) Anyway - it's a batt...

Re: THE KALASHNIKOV (AK-47) CELEBRATES 60 YEARS
I would say it is more of an engineering celebration than it is celebrating the gun itself. I don't know - I think it's about the gun. Nothing scares the excrement out of people like leaping from the shadows ninja-style brandishing a weapon which sports a banana clip (and another banana clip taped ...

Anyone out there start their own business?
Just wondering what (if any) thoughts you might have for someone thinking through a few ideas that are heading that direction. So a long way off, but serious enough that I have the forms and whatnot to register company names and trademarks and start looking for small business loans and whatnot... fi...

Re: 2 Wireless Connections, 1 PC.
Tristan, Are you using a 2247? If so, I don't think it's possible to have both internet and printer access at the same time. You can enable multiple SSID's on that router (as you prolly know) and use one for LAN and the other for WAN. Then plug the printer into the router and connect/disconnect to ...

2 Wireless Connections, 1 PC.
If you wanted to connect one PC (Win XP) to a wireless broadband router and to a wireless printer (both apparently 802.11b/g) would it be possible to do so simultaneously? So far, I haven't been able to find much of an answer - it seems the general consensus is that this can't be done. Does anyone k...

I have two laptops running Vista Home Premium - one sits at 55% while idle (of 2 GB) and the other at 48% while idle (of 1 GB.) I can still run Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Firefox, Scite, etc. all at once, and never have any problems with anything running slowly. As someone already pointed out - unused ...

This may be a stupid check but you never know. Are you sure HSF is mounted properly (ie:not backwards) I dont know if this would be an issue on your setup but some older ones it is! Nice one. I didn't think to ask him about the direction of the fan, just whether it was spinning or not... Anyway, Ke...

Are you sure you have an adequate amount of thermal paste? When you pull the HSF there should be an even amount over all of the core/CPU, if there are gaps this could cause a problem with heat transfer. That's what I said too - so far all the suggestions (thanks for the help from everyone btw) have...

802.11g (Wireless G) can only extend to ~300 meters when there's line of sight and no other EMI in the area. Since even CRT monitors give out a crap load of EMI, Wireless is only useful if your connecting two devices that have only one wall between them, otherwise you'll need to get a wireless brid...

It's funny - here in Europe automatic transmissions are fairly rare, I haven't actually personally witnessed anyone using one, only heard about a person who has one. I came back to Ireland from the States, and when I left (only three years ago) you could still get petrol for about $1.50. Damn inflat...

Here in Arizona, they still require you to demonstrate your parallel parking skills before issuing you a license. No one knows why since there are only about 2 parallel parking spaces left in the state. Really? I lived in Phoenix for thirteen years, and I got my driver's license in Scottsdale and I...
